Code - BREAK10

Last time this was on I ordered. WHen unpacked it was as if it had all been in a tumble drier. No apology from Campbell's just wanted photographic evidence which I did not think to take before I repackaged it all.

Nice black pudding, everything else is average except the Lorne Sausage which is gross!

Not really a deal for me.
- I would not eat haggis with a fry up, so that is out the window.
- There are four types of sausage! Do you really care about eating 4 types of sausage?? One is fine for me.

So all this deal is for is bacon, black pudding and sausage.

You can get a ton of bacon, black pudding and sausage for a tenner at the supermarket.

Your meat order is kept cool in transit because we either use an insulated expanded polystyrene box, or a recyclable tough corrugated cardboard box which is foil lined and insulated with bubble wrap. Both boxes are leak-proof and sturdy.

To keep your delivery cool, it is packed along with specially designed ice packs. Our ice packs are made with a frozen water-based gel, which keeps the meat at the correct temperature for up to 48 hours. When the ice does melt, it stays as a gel, which prevents the delivery becoming wet.

The meat content of these products is horrendous, no wonder its cheap
Pork, Haggis & Herb Sausage - Pork 36%
Ring sausage - Pork 32%
Wouldnt eat them if they were giving them away

32% pork in the sausage? The mind boggles....

Insulated maybe but adequately wrapped I think not. Mine was tumbled dried effectivly!.

Ring sausage - Pork 32%

Think I'll give that one a miss

Meh, I've certainly eaten worse and the kids actually prefer these to the very high meat content ones! That said I usually buy for the haggis, and yes it does go with a fry up just slice it and fry like black pudding. Its better in batter though

Codes - just added a joint and breakfast box, used codes chat20 and break10, then removed breakfast box = 20% off and free delivery.

I wanna try this but im scared, im funny with meat, is it decent?

I also tried quorn chicken once and i was ill for the rest of the day, i dunno how anyone can eat that crap!

Excellent. Worked for me too. Love their meat and fish but still have a load of haggis and black pudding in the freezer from previous orders.

Ordered. Thanks

32% pork in the sausage? The mind boggles....

Look these might be shite, and I'm not pretending I know the quality.

However, the pork percentages aren't as far off the mark as you apparently expect. Certainly not enough for the mind to boggle.

I'm guessing you don't know this, but a major ingredient in British chipolatas is and always has been, effectively, bread.

~40% meat is pretty common for British sausages, and these are the probably the sausages you probably know and love - you maybe just never knew what was in them before.

Sausages with a high meat content are also lovely, but they have a significantly different texture and flavour profile.

Note: The UK used to specify that bangers should be at least 65% meat. EU rules changed that to mean the minimum meat content would be 36%, but you weren't allowed to count fat towards it, which we previously did, and how.
When I talk about 'meat' I'm talking about the EU definition.

So the one sign that these aren't top quality bangers is that at 32% pork they're below the EU requirement to be called sausages unless there's other non-pork meat in there, too. Which, I'm guessing, is what's going on.

See my previous post, but you're off the mark on what's normal for sausages. We're talking about being out by a small percentage on better quality bangers, not a country mile.

The haggis sausages in particular you already know the meat content is higher than 36% because they've got haggis in. Haggis is made from sheep, not pork.

Let's be conservative and assume they're 40% meat. That's pretty typical.

Take a packet of Walls saugages for example. These are pretty much the standard British banger.

They claim 61% pork, but if you look at the fat content it's around 19%. So we're looking at 42% meat.

(I am guessing they're including the fat in this 61% figure, because I know Walls sausages, and they don't have the profile of sausages that are under 20% starch and rusk).

The campbells ones do look lower quality, don't get me wrong. But we're out by small fractions, not lightyears.

Sorry mate got to disagree, a decent sausage should have around 75% to 95% pork content, so these things have half of that. The second or third main component is also water so when you've only got about 35% meat the water content is likely going to be pretty high, hence why they will shrivel up when cooking and makes them even worst value for money.

Also I wouldn't take take Walls as the benchmark for a decent sausage! For example, Tesco finest pork sausages are £3 for pack of 10 and have 97% pork content

I'm not comparing these things to non-rusk sausages. As I said "Sausages with a high meat content are also lovely, but they have a significantly different texture and flavour profile."

And they do.

I like the full meat experience more on a barbeque, or if I'm making sausage and mash.

Your ordinary basic bangers I would vastly prefer at breakfast time.

Your preference is your preference -
I'm merely trying to note that these aren't at all out of the ordinary for British bangers. If you don't like them, don't eat them, fine.

And I'm not using Walls as the benchmark for the ubersausage or anything - just an example of what a commor or garden banger is like - and saying that the Campbells ones are no worse.

In point of fact they were quoted as 32% pork, which looked a bit on the low side, but not a million miles out of normal. I've checked, and they're actually 42% pork, which is absolutely bang in alignment with my estimates for the Walls sausages.

All I'm saying is "They're not bad. They're just normal."
