Only £5.48 at Tesco, see earlier thread

The Tesco Turkey's at £5.48 per kilo are NOT bronze Turkey's so the comparison is unfair. Tesco do have bronze free range Turkey's but they are £7.69 per kg so the Lidl deal does stand up. I've just bought mine from Lidl, very good value (per kg) for a Bronze Free range Turkey.....

Dumb thing to ask I know but what is the difference between this and a normal turkey?

Bronze are supposed to be superior eating.

I'll let you know once I've eaten mine but a normal Turkey is probably the equivalent of say braising steak whereas a Bronze one would be the equivalent of Sirloin/Fillet steak. Basically a choicer cut of meat/bird. That sort of difference....

I wondered this and google threw this up. It's a bit caustic.

I think it was on Hairy Bikers they were talking to a bloke that saved the Bronze turkey breed because nobody wanted them because of the black marks left when they were plucked so he rounded up the remaining few birds in the country and started breeding them.

Got a fresh british bronze free range turkey this morning, so thanks op.
I was waiting for someone to say "they're only this much blah blah blah at Tesco's" and someone has obliged.
Obviously this deal is hot because the turkeys are bronze.
In my humble opinion bronze turkey has a stronger flavour and they are not reared for mass production as the white ones.

Very good price per kg.

Interesting reviews there Duck, so these are rubbish according to the times.

I think that's a review of the cheaper £4.49/Kg ones which are intensively reared whites. I'd definitely get one of these over those and I'm a right tight-fisted git. Going to try goose for the first time if I can, though.

all gone when i gor there. ta for posting tho'
