Fresh Cod Fillet - HALF PRICE Now £4.74/kg @ Morrisons

Fresh Icelandic Cod Fillet is now half price at Morrisons. Was £9.49 per kg now £4.74 per kg.
Available from the fishmonger counter. These are pretty large fillets, one fillet would easily feed 2. As a Morrisons Fishmonger myself, your local fishmonger will cut the fillet to whatever size you require and skin it for you if required (they do come with skin on).
This deal was VERY popular a few months ago so they brought it back for one week only.
These havent been frozen either so you can stock up and whack a few in the freezer.

V.quick!!!

Now watch this shoot up in heat simply 'cause of the picture used

+rep as ive tasted morrisons fish and the pic is perfect

The Mrs bought this was when it was half price last time. She found loads of little white worms wriggling around inside the flesh when she sliced into it, obviously some kind of parasite. You'll find it as no surprise that we haven't bought fish from Morrisons since and won't be doing so again.:x

I think they use the term "fresh" very loosely. They imply it's caught the previous day but I wouldn't be surprised if its a fair few days old by the time it hits the shelves.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

 *fights urge to vomit*

Uggggh, that is the most disgusting thing i've heard in a while, freaky!!!

Voted hot because of the pic but after reading that... Steer clear people!!

Of course it could have just been a one off, yours might have been the only one they ever sold to be in that condition but i wouldn't take that chance...

If you don't want to cook your fish after seeing the worms, I quite understand. Just don't go out of your way to ruin the fishmonger's reputation. The presence of worms has nothing to do with the freshness of the fish and I assure you that your fishmonger tried his or her hardest to protect you from this terrible experience. Last thing they want to happen is for you to find worms in your fish, but unfortunately this does happen sometimes.

Very nice just had some for my tea.No worms though

LOL. That's gross man. I suppose you win some, you lose some. Just make sure you cook it thoroughly. :whistling:

Blame the seals for the Cod worms, they carry the parasite in their poo!
you can sometimes see the pattern that the worms have left behind after they have been cooked(they disintegrate) in battered or breaded cod.
1000s of people eat them without ever knowing it.

I cant speak for any other fishmongers, but whenever I am puting a new box of cod on the counter I check as much as I can for worms. Thats what I was told on my training and I know if I bought some and it had worms in it I'd be morethan disappointed. As far as I'm aware, they arent harmful at all to humans, but its still not nice if you get them.

Most fishmongers should also check for these. And its probably only a very small percentage that have them.

:thumbsup:Since when did seals give birth to Cod. All fish have parasite's!

Have just stocked up again. I love Morrisons fresh fish & meat counters. By far the best of the big supermarkets.

With Fish it's always the same. SMELL IT. If it smells it's off, if it doesn't really smell of anything it fresh. Note: this tip only works for people with a sense of smell, and also for people who don't mind asking the guy behind the counter to let you smell his fish.

Tell me more about the free worms! Can i get saver stamps for them?

God - ever wish you had not come back to read a post!!

a nice price for a codpiece.

Damn lol, I'd bookmarked this post, and came back to read it as I was planning to buy cod today.

Did NOT need to know about the worms!! WIll probably get kicked out and banned from my local Morrisons later for looking too closely at the cod
