I have been waiting for fresh whole salmon offers £4.97 per kilo but the weight is up to 2.5 kgs

i don't think they fillet or cut it up but it's cheap enough to do it yourself.

So they just sell you the whole salmon with No option at all to get it filleted or cut?
Ask they will cut it.
If someone is there to cut it

Ask them to remove scales and cut if for you. They will do it. When you freeze it, make sure you put in separate bags or you will have to use it all at once.

They are normally about 2kg, so pretty big. Last time I bought one we cut it into maybe 8 decent-sized fillet portions and froze them, and made a good amount of gravlax from the tail section.
The fishmongers in Asda are no gooin my experience they waste loads of meat. I recommend buying the fish whole and cutting it in rounds with a large razor sharp knife.

I suppose it depends on the store. We bought 3 and actually even talked about the fact how well he did it. He asked us whether we want them in round pieces (like your pic) but we wanted them in long filets (not sure how its called lol). It was all in separate bags, very neat and clean. That was in Peterborough though

All these comments about how Asda will fillet it for you amaze me.

My nearest Asda is Workington, I have asked a few times if they will do what Morrison’s always do, and fillet the fish they sell....It is always a resounding no.They will not do it
its been nearly 8 years since we had this belting offer ...hot hot hot

You are lucky then to have a fishmonger like that. I suppose you could ask for fillets and if they ruin it just dump it in the reduced section, if you can get near it.
Anyone had success getting fishmonger to agree to prepare it? In our store they looked at me like I was crazy when I asked

My ASDA refused straghit away to clean and cut it in fillets.

They do it here in my local asda. Also Morrisons.
Asda don't have any trained butchers or fishmongers.
Chanchi likes his fish!
Got any Salmon? 'E's good, 'E's good, Ebeneezer's good!

Morison will do it for you by default if you ask them. You will be extremely lucky if your local ASDA will prepare (fillet / steak) it for you.

I have been to many ASDAs in London all of them refuse to cut it .
