I know someone who has a smaller Wireless Response kit and batteries don't last long at all.
Something to bear in mind.

I thought the same. But I noticed that siren is solar powered and at this price range the control panel should be able to plug-in main, so it should be fine.
The capacity to ring you in case of event is an added bonus. I used to have a similar one (from BT) in my previous property, which informed me of an event while we went on holiday. I called my next door neighbour, who went to my house and knocked on front door. He told me later that somebody run into a white van and drove away very quickly. Not sth will happen to everyone and every day. But it can be useful.
