Not free. It is £145 per year

Excellent. BBC programs on BBC iPlayer!
Next you'll be telling me there are channel four programs on All four.

I watch BBC television, use the BBC iPlayer and listen to BBC radio on a daily basis. I get great value out of my license fee. It's interesting to know that some of these series are going to be on iPlayer, especially the Attenborough stuff.

Got to love the bbc get us to pay the license fee and then sells the shows to Netflix. All bbc shows should be on iplayer

No, it’s for life, not just for christmas

Haven't watched BBC since they changed the rules on BBCi player requiring a TV licence. Its about time they caught up with the digital world but maybe they will just stay in the last century so long as the tech lacking keep paying the tax.

About time. Had to wait for netflix to show season 3 of line of duty.

Stop paying the tv tax ,and kill the beast

The 4K HDR demo on BBC player on the B7 is rather brilliant. If only they could release some content....

Wish they show the original Dr Who’s going back to Hartnell

COLD... because it's not free.. We the British people should have the choice to watch the BBC or not and as so the choice to pay the rip off tv licence fee or just watch other stations.

Blimey, free? Where do you apply for the TV licence refund?

bbc America free with adverts
They wouldn't be able to push their way around in America demanding a forced subscription.
Their private police force. aka Goons.
I watch the bbc once a year for Doctor Who.
They just churn out 90% crap, some good docs. No scifi (not counting DW), no movies unless it's a gap filler so they just stick on some old repeated movie from 1957.
Their sitcomes are not funny. If I watched 10 in a row, I'd be like Steven Kawkings.

Meanwhile ch4 movies showing fairly new movies.

bbc 3/4 starting a 7pm. What a joke.

Without the bbc new tv channels could be set up and they could sell the rights to Doctor Who and other programs, the people at the top will pocket a mint so they don't care.

I am fed with hearing the bbc has the best tv in the World. Who started that rumour?

Not paying £145 for their "unbiased" content - I never realised just how many comedians only make jokes about Brexit/Trump, but I guess they won't get airtime on the BBC unless they toe the party line.

With only 30 days access to recently aired programmes too. Terrible. BBC needs to move on with the times.

BBC = The Devil Incarnate

Cold. No Grange Hill or Blakes 7.

They did that some years ago on UK Gold.
They also joined the episodes for each story. No annoying adverts when that was on late.

Another thing I hate about the bbc is that they destroyed a lot of recordings. Some have turned up but I have got no idea how they were recorded in the first place.

Time Slip, it's all in black and white except one original episode that is in color.
I read that they reused the video but an Australian tv channel had it but in black and white.

You get great value because it's subsidised by people who are forced to pay for it regardless as to whether they want to watch it.

Oh good my family can catch up on the Dr Who when we visit my mum at Christmas (free TV Licence for oldies). I tell my 8 and ten year old we don't watch live TV as we don't have a TV licence and haven't for 5 years. They don't have a clue about the old way of watching media.

On the other hand I have an 85 year old friend who isn't short of a few bob and watches his 55" 4K smart TV ( which came off a deal on HUKD via me) through his 7 year old sky box. His wife hid the TV remote as he only knows how to use a sky remote.

I feel like banging my head against a wall sometimes bring new tech to old people

You don't have to pay for it if you're not going to watch it.

How many would pay £145 for the BBC radio stations and tv channels if it was subscription based? It's pretty wrong in this day and age to make every person who wants to watch all the other advert funded channels pay this fee to the BBC. It would be better all round if they did go card based on freeview, close the signal off like sky, no more court cases and only the people that pay it get access.

Errrr. Yes you do. Even if you never watch the BBC but only watch a live stream of some Bollywood drama coming direct from India you need a license. Ridiculous
