you guys do realise these were 15 pounds when the spotify thing was …you guys do realise these were 15 pounds when the spotify thing was available and 4 pounds if you bought a code of the google home mini of ebay and potentially free if you used a virtual card with 0.00 to register with the promo

Yeh but the cost of the time machine makes this cheaper.

Do these have a phono out to connect it to a better stereo system

No. If you want the audio out of a bigger speaker you need a Chromecast audio. Then you can ask it to play music from Spotify etc from one or a group of Chromecasts. The built in one isn't that bad for a small room really though.

As a side note Google have discontinued the Chromecast audio, but think you can still get them for now.

You can pair a Mini to a bluetooth speaker as a workaround for the Mini not having an audio out socket.
Should I go for this or wait for some price drops on google home? What do you think?

Yes.
Yes, what
Great price. I've got 4 of these around the house to replace the dab Radios. Every TuneIn station is available.
They do so much more as well. I get today's weather, commute time, football scores and so much more. A handy feature is the ability to broadcast a message to all of them. And you can make phone calls for free from it.

These google/ alexa/ nvidia etc are all on sale now because no versions are on the way. Perhaps over prime day for Alexa and Aug for google etc. Not to say this is not a good deal if this what you need but be aware...
No
Will be sub £20 soon I reckon
I have an unused one of these if anyone is interested? Opened the box but that's it. PM me and make me a *reasonable* offer

Pretty creepy having Google listen-in on you all day, including what you watch, who you live with and talk about, etc.
Especially considering Google exists to collect data, in return for free software.

There was a news article recently that Amazon / Google secretly hire contractors working away from their official office in unidentified buildings who's job is to listen to these devices all day long (in order to improve the responses). The report also mentioned that due to staff listening to sounds of sex, domestic violence, and on a few occasions, people being killed, that the staff needed psychological help with a counsellor available on site to manage the contractors.

What's more shocking is that Google / Amazon doesn't use the information for good, i.e. when they know people talking about selling drugs, and child pornography etc, but they never report this. I guess same as the NSA who knows the contents of pretty much every email, yet never use it for good of stopping drug gangs, etc.

My friend has one of these, grabbing it as well. Thanks

Not if you are using g suite for your google account. Its a blooming annoyance as it was used extensively in my gaff.piunikaweb.com/201…ny/

Just picked them up in my local Tesco, they have of course didn’t know about it but everything was clear after they checked the price.

Thanks OP
Apparently it’s also available in Candy as well as Charcoal.

They are only listening to the captured data after you have said the "Alexa" wake word, they make this pretty clear.

I am sure the devices have picked up other things when it has thought it had heard the wake word, although this wouldn't be common.

Anyone who doesn't turn off the microphone just before sex is also a little silly....especially if your name is Alex and your girlfriend is a little noisy.
Same price literally EVERYWHERE! Argos, John Lewis, Robert Dyas, AO etc.
If you time it right and buy the £10 Tesco e-voucher for £5 on Groupon and get your Tesco savings vouchers through (I got £3 off for a spend over £20), you can get it for £16. Win win!
Great timing if a Sonos user ... integration with google home seems to now be available for UK users as of today
£25 on eBay or gumtree

Can I ask:
- can you stream different tunein stations to each one?
- is multiroom audio possible? i.e. the same music played on multiple devices Does Spotify support this?

Thanks

Yes and yes.
I can stream different radio stations in different rooms at the same time. I've just tried this and it works. TalkSport in the kitchen and BBC 6 Music in the living room.
And multi-room audio is possible. You can create groups and add different speakers to it and broadcast music from Spotify to that group. I have a group called 'Home' and the sound fills the entire house. It's a really good feature.
you can connect google home with bluetooth to larger speakers theverge.com/cir…ure
It's pretty much useless, all gimmicky features.

Tried one a year or so ago and it wouldn't even work with Android TV's, as far as I'm aware it still doesn't, fixing incompatibility with your own software clearly isn't important enough to them.
That's genius level incompetence from Google.
