There are some great value flights to Cuba for Christmas at the moment. I've just booked flights to Cuba myself making good of these flights for Christmas (from Manchester with a bonus of an overnight in Amsterdam too) and am planning to travel around Cuba and make a bit of a multi-stop trip. Here is a trip from Birmingham which allows you to visit two main areas, Havana and Varadero.

Arriving into Havana on 14/12/2017 you will stay at the Lunass Apartment. This place has really good reviews which is in the middle of the old Havana and walking distance tripadvisor.co.uk/Hot…tml Although its a 'hostal', a lot of places are small casas in Havana and it is right in the middle of the old town. It's one of my top 3 to stay in.

Leaving Havana on 18/12/2017 you will take a transfer to the Sol Palmeras in Varadero. There are cheaper options of the bus so if you wanted to save money this is an option I'll be considering.

In Varadero you'll stay for 10 nights all inclusive at the Sol Palmeras which has great reviews and is great value for money over the Christmas break. tripadvisor.co.uk/Hot…tml

Breakdown

Book flights with Travel Trolley - I know some people will say they aren't reliable, but they were the cheapest option and I booked with them and have my etickets already and can see my flight with KLM. Price for 2 is £706.46

Book 4 nights in Havana £124.24 hostelworld.com/

Shared Transfer to Varadero 36 Euro/£30.56 solwayscuba.com/tra…rs/

10 Nights in Sol Palmeras £1576.14 book on melia.com

Shared Transfer Varadero to Airport in Havana 36 Euro/£30.56 solwayscuba.com/tra…rs/

This price does not include transfers from Havana airport to the old town as the best value is probably a taxi which can be negotiated in Havana.

Luggage is included with meals etc, as it is with KLM/Air France.

Total £2467.96/£1233.98pp

You can't fly direct from Manchester or Birmingham to Havana so I believe. If you go from London you can (direct just shy of 10hrs) but that would probably be even longer when you add getting to London, depending on where you live. For me in the north west it's easier to transit in Amsterdam or Paris.

I've got a 20 hr layover in Amsterdam going out then on the return an hour and half in Paris.

It's ok for some i guess but hanging about CDG then another long flight is too much for most people. I did not rate cuba when i went about 10 yrs ago nice enough people but would not go back. I'm thinking of going costa rica very soon looks lovely so much to do and see.
Whilst Varadero is a wonderful place, you could be in any of a number of locations around the world. Surely you're missing a trick by not staying for longer in Havana. Aim to at least stay a night or two in Hotel Nacional for the money you're saving on Varadero.

Yes, Costa Rica looks lovely I'm sure it will be amazing, certainly one I'll consider myself. I went about 15 years ago on a complete 'not my type of holiday' with family in an AI resort and felt stranded stuck there for 9 nights but this time planning to turn it into a variety of a trip, including Havana, Trinidad and Valle de Vinales as a starter.

Yes that was my trip to cayo coco nice enough but nothing to do. Best thing was free horse riding on my own cantering down the beach into the sea and eating freshly grilled barracuda that i caught just 10 mins before, we just tipped the beach grill chef and he grilled it up for us as hotel ran out of basic food most days US embargo days. Costa rica looks so exciting volcanoes jungles etc BA fly there now so we are going next year.

It's out of my budget 482 Euro a night!! Tried a few different dates in December. It will be a small casa for me at £30 a night.

Have a lovely time! Yes I think stuck in a resort you may have a skewed view of a place, I've been researching Cuba and it's so much more than the AI resorts. Hopefully you have a DIY trip planned to Costa Rica and aren't spending it in a resort?
Yes Diy trip to costa rica its looks amazing this year we are off to crete it's a lovely place if you travel about like we are.

I've never been to Greece believe it or not! Off to Jordan in October and got a couple of city breaks booked in between.
