Bologna and Venice are my two of my favourite Italian cities, along with Verona but food wise Bologna is where I've had some of the tastiest Italian meals.

I've put together this short visit to Bologna and Venice from Bristol in May. I've picked hotels that are right in the centre as with a short space of time it's always handy to be able to walk to places rather than using public transport.

On 15th May you'll fly from Bristol to Bologna. In Bologna you'll stay right in the historic centre at the Hotel Holiday. I think this is great value for money with rooms with private bathrooms in the centre. For 70p more you can stay in the Ramada Encore which is a spa hotel but it's near the fair area and on the outskirts so whilst it is a posher hotel you will have to make your way in and out of the city using bus number 25. I personally would prefer to be just a couple of minutes walk from the main Plaza and right in the middle of the action as Bologna really comes alive at night. Make sure you climb one of the towers for fantastic views of the city. You will stay in Bologna for 2 nights.

On 17th May you will do the short hour and half journey by train to Venice. There are a few different train options so you can pretty much book whichever train you would like as they run throughout the day. I love stepping out of the train station in Venice where right in front of you is the Grand Canal. It's so surreal and beautiful.

You will stay in Venice for 1 night only but you will have plenty of time to explore. The hotel I've picked is in walking g distance to the Rialto Bridge and St Mark's Square and if you wanted cheaper you could stay outside the main area near Lido. If you get chance make sure you head outside of the canals using the vaporetto transportation.

Public transport for getting to and from the airport in Venice and Bologna is really cheap and shouldn't cost more than around €10pp for each city.

Looks great I suppose the rooms are the same price even if it is just me myself and I?;)

Probably yes. I didn't see single rooms unfortunately. There were some good looking hostels in Bologna and if you are willing to share bathrooms there are even cheaper and better rated places to stay.

I will have to research it later. Have you booked this or are you undecided?

Oh no I'm in the North West but I have done something similar myself. Bologna is a lovely city and its so easy using the trains too. I only suggest places to stay I'd be happy in myself and staying in the historic centre.
Thanks for this, noticed the breakdown of prices includes a mix of pound Stirling and Euro, is the total fully calculated in pounds Stirling?

Yep, I converted Euro to £ using Google conversion rated when I posted the deal.
