From London: 2 Night Break to Krakow £52.66pp @ Ibis

Here is a nice 2 night/3 day break to Krakow 11-13 March. Arriving at lunchtime on Sunday you have the rest of the afternoon and then two full days to explore (Monday and Tuesday) before the flight home on Tuesday evening. This should be plenty of time to dedicate a full day to Auschwitz and then a half day to the Salt Museum/Mine which is a great place to visit.

Book flights on ryanair.com £67.97

Book 2 nights at the Ibis which is centrally located £67.97 on ibis.com

Total £105.33/£52.66pp

Lovely City. Didn't make Auschwitz in the short time I was there but the salt mines are definitely worth a visit.
Great price for a short break with good flight times.

We did Auschwitz and Kopalnia salt mines in one excursion. Started at 9am from hotel and dropped back to main square for dinner out.

Look for CK Browar for a great night with micro brewery style and good food!
Just booked a similar deal staying at the ibis and flying with Ryan air. Check out viator for trips , I’ve booked the salt mines and auscwhitz tours for the same day and it came to 80£ for two people.

£80 for two people. That is expensive! We went on the bus to both and then just paid our own entry fee. The best thing was getting to Auschwitz when it opened very, very early in the morning. It meant we were the only ones there for at least an hour and it made walking round so much easier. Taxis and offers of a driver were available in Krakow and you may have been better just negoting a price with driver at a time to suit rather than a group tour. It is very easy to get around Krakow.

Salt mines are great, we had a very eccentric old man do our tour, was quite amusing, just don't lick the salt if he asks you to!
Very hot deal. Been a couple times and it's a must see. Wont fly Ryanair even if you paid me. Lost luggage, overbooked flights, 2 bad landings, rude rude ***** customer services.

A beautiful location at your own risk lol

Both entry fees would have came to around 150 zloty each (around £30), so to pay £10 each of top of that for hotel pick up/drop with your guide and free water seemed good to me. I just like the idea of not spending time organising a trip whilst there as my time is worth more !

Could I book with family of four. Two Adults and two children for Easter in a reasonable price. Trying to get somewhere in Europe but prices kept going up and up coz of Easter.

Could someone pls recommend or help where to go Easter in a budget
Recommend. Prices are on lower side. Bars, restaurants or spa's are high standard for less you pay in London.

Not sure abt halal but wit veggie food shouldnt b a problem.
Krakow is a lovely city. No need for an expensive trip to Auschwitz. Jump on the train. Really cheap. Then a short taxi to main camp. I found Auschwitz 2 Birkenau haunting

Is there another Krakow apart from the one in Poland? I've been 3 times in the last 2 years and never seen any smog?

Oh, hang on a minute... You couldn't have meant...

Did Auschwitz a few months ago, i would recommend taking the train as we took a bus and it was the smallest thing ever. On the way back we had to wait over an hour and there was a massive buildup of people waiting to get on this tiny bus. Major shoving and pushing ensued as everyone clambered on the bus the driver didn’t care and some little German lady who was one of the first at the bus stop got left behind.
Don’t know why Auschwitz has such a bad reputation; I thought the cafeteria was delightful. If anything, the portions were too big.
I went to Krakow last month, fabulous city. A few tips and recommendations:

I found that you get a better exchange rate when you're over there at the Kantor Exchange shops, it was around 1 GBP to 5 Zl. As opposed to 1 GBP to 4.5 Zl when exchanging in the UK.

I found it a LOT cheaper to book your trips at the local shops such as Salt Mines, Auschwitz etc. as opposed to pre-booking them online. Highly recommend doing the Auschwitz tour with a guide, it's absolutely grim yet very interesting (I learned a lot from it personally - it was around 35 quid for myself and my partner including the bus trip, no issues with the travel it was very good and the guide was really good).

Other general information would be, it's around 15-20 quid to get an airport taxi into the city. A pint is about 2 quid.
Meals dependent on where you eat but I still found it cheap, at the nicer looking restaurants it was about 50-60 quid for a three course meal with a bottle of wine.

the poles who charged you US $120 for what is essentially 3 medium bus/train rides with a total value of US $10 or so are laughing their heads off.

Are you not considering these trips include all the entrance fees? Which came up to 3/4 of the cost anyway ....so essentially they are getting £10 for 3 journeys.

I'm not sure which Viator tour you booked as most seem to be well over £80 for two, but if you don't mind been on a group and want to be picked up/dropped off and don't want the hassle you've probably made a good choice.

I think it just depends on what you want. All the tours on Viator seem to have very limited time at Auschwitz, with 2 hours at Auschwitz I, the former SS administrative center, and 1 hour at Auschwitz II-Birkenau. For me, this just wouldn't have been long enough. We arrived when it opened and left past 3pm. Both sites are enormous and 1 hour at Birkenau really doesn't do it justice. I can't put into words how chilling Birkenau is and we actually spent far longer here than at Auschwitz I.

Either way, both are must see places to visit and whatever way you do them I'm sure you will have a great trip.

Define a “bad landing”

On 1 flight the landing gear would not deploy, we circled the airport for 2 hours. On another flight approaching Berlin the plane drop the last 100ft out of the air and we skidded all over the run way, had concussion from bouncing my head into the light above. They lost my partners luggage for a wedding in which she had important things and her bridesmaid dress in. After the wedding they charged us £45 to return the luggage to us. Very badly damaged. More things over the 7 yrs I used them. Thank god for wizzair.
I hate them that much that last year I had to get to a funeral in slovakia last minute, only flight available was Ryanair for about £70 a couple hours from where I needed to be. Instead I chose to fly to Prague and travel by train 8hrs to be there just in time. I did the same going back home.
The day Ryanair goes bust I'll be celebrating like its just turned 2000.

All airlines have to follow strict safety standards. Gear not deploying is something that can happen to any plane. Ryanair have one of the youngest fleets in the sky. Again sudden clear air that can cause rapid drops are nothing to do with it being a Ryanair. They don’t make weather. Do your seatbelt up more. One of the primary reasons we can all fly abroad so cheaply are innovators like Ryanair. They have never had a fatal accident and operate 1000’s flights a day. So I will define a bad landing for you. It’s one you don’t walk away from.
