Austria can be an expensive country, but it's such a great place to get about on public transport and very tourist friendly. It's easy to travel between Salzburg, Linz and Vienna and this is an example deal visiting both Salzburg and Vienna.

Book one way flights London to Salzburg on 17 March £49.98 on ryanair.com

We did a similar trip in March last year. However I would highly recommend stopping off in Hallstatt between Salzburg and Vienna. It's a gorgeous village along a pristine Alpine lake. I have some photos here

It's a bus / train combo ticket to Hallstatt and then train only from Hallstatt to Vienna. You can use the Austrian rail website to work out times. We left Salzburg at 8am, spent the day in Hallstatt and arrived in Vienna for 8pm. Beautiful place.

Wow pics of Hallstatt look amazing. Thanks for sharing them.

Wasn't impressed with Salzburg myself but Vienna is beautiful.

Yep, Vienna is a great city.
