Here is a lovely little Italian trip using buses, ferries and trains. I've included all the prices for ferries and trains but you don't need to book these in advance, but if you did want to, which I recommend for the Rome to Salerno leg, these go on sale 90 days before.

26-28 June
You will fly to Rome early morning and spend two nights in Rome, close to St peter's Basilica.

28 June-1 July
You will catch the train to Salerno from Rome (direct around 2 and half hours) which is very close to the Amalfi coast and is ideal for exploring as the ferry is nearby. It's only 25 mins to Amalfi and the Salerno accommodation is also on the coast. You will spend 3 nights in Salerno. There are at least 8 ferries per day between Salerno and Amalfi/Positano so it is a good place, and a lot cheaper than Sorrento.

1-3 July
You will check out and then catch the ferry to Amalfi and then bus to Sorrento (you can get the ferry to Amalfi and then onto Sorrento but it will be more expensive). In Sorrento you'll stay for 2 nights right in the centre at the Hotel Nice which includes free breakfast.

3-5 July
You'll catch the train from Sorrento to Naples which doesn't need to be booked in advance. In Naples you'll spend 2 nights, enough time to visit Pompeii and Vesuvius which is easily done on train/bus. You'll leave on 5th July.

Details:

Book one way flights Manchester to Rome ryanair.com £67.98

2804027.jpg
Book 3 nights in Salerno on www.booking.
com £124

2804027.jpg
Take ferry from Salerno to Amalfi (you don't need to book this in advance but if you want to this is an estimation of price, you'll need to do this closer to departure). It's €8pp, total cost £14.11.

2804027.jpg

Bus from Amalfi to Sorrento, again you just get your ticket at Newsagents/tourist info. It will cost no more than €4pp. Total £7.05.

Book 2 nights in Sorrento direct with hotel £128.37. It is Hotel Nice in Sorrento.

Lol, you'd hate to see my holiday itineraries!
hi, what is the hotel called in sorento please? xxx
Not sure about Naples as much, but Sorrento, Positano, Capri, Amalfi etc makes a lush holiday! Locals are so friendly, totally safe to walk around, nobody is a drunken lout like in the UK 🤣 Food is amazing and pretty cheap, weather is lush! I went at the back end of July and it was pretty warm however!
Well done for the effort
Great deal 🔥

Well spotted, it's the Hotel Nice. Book on their site direct as it is much cheaper.
Great effort and brilliant price for that holiday.
Is it any cheaper if 4 of us would like to travel, or would we have to book 2 rooms instead in every place?
Thank you

Best thing to do is to look at different places to stay depending on if there is children or just all adults as you may get better deals. The only thing I'll say is I did read all the reviews and check ratings and location of all the places in this deal to make sure they were ideally placed for public transport/getting about so this maybe something to consider when you're looking for places to stay.

Trying to book first hotel and it comes to £210 even for 2 adults 26-28th of June
Don't bother with Naples. It's a right old dump.

Megabus is good value for getting around Italy. Also look a prices for flying in and out of Pisa.

It's a good base though and to be fair with only two nights you won't be hanging around.

You can catch the train to Pompeii, other museums to visit along the line too.

Are you looking for 4 adults or just two adults and two kids?

Here are a couple of alternative options for 4 (I didn't know if it was for kids or adults)

Close to the accommodations in the deal and rated highly.

Rome

Salerno

Sorrento

It's for 4 adults, and thank you, your help is appreciated! Went on holiday through one of your deals to Portugal for £96pp/week back in April. So heat added to this one too!
As for the Rome booking, I was looking through booking.com for 2 adults and it was giving me £210 per stay for 2 nights for whatever reason.
And by the end of the holiday you'll get to recognise the other hukd'ers who booked the same trip. Cracking deal.
We just came back from here on our honeymoon [back to work today :-( ]and it is an unbelievable place to visit. Would highly recommend a boat trip over to the island of Capri if you’re feeling frisky and try Limoncello. Great savings to be made from the OP so heat added!
The trains in Italy make our rail service look like the third world. Super cheap and very luxurious.

My advice would be to use the freciarossa ones as you get reserved seats, much quicker (260kmph) and free drinks and snacks. Only €16 more for the rome salerno leg.

salerno is a good base for the Amalfi coast. The boat journey out to Amalfi and Positano is really good from there. I wouldn't go in late June / early July, it's just too hot.

Great effort op.

I'm planning a hiking trip there next year, at the end of April/early may or in Oct, as u rightly point out it's too hot. Also it's peak season so there will be too many people for me.
