Nice spot @tyr

Just a shame it was not closer to this price, eg: £299 at launch, would have sold a lot more, but the notchgate marmite era, ruined its fireworks!

As luck would have it, it made up for it in the way of using a real samsung AMoLED panel in it!
Panel gave me headaches, returned mine to JL. Don't get me started on its sar values, you are better off with the mi 9, lower SARS, also doesn't throttle compared to the mi 8.
Great phone, using now!
I normally go off a phone pretty quick, the niggles start to annoy me, but hasn't happened with the Xiaomi MI 8.

I put it alongside an iPhone XS Max in Carphonewarehouse, to compare the amoled displays and the default colour balance had a slight tinge of blue on the MI8 (which can be adjusted to match in the settings), but the difference between the displays was marginal. Bezel thickness down the edges is similar, notch is almost identical to iPhone. Brightness of the screen, outdoors is very good, maybe not Samsung 10 standards but fantastic for the price.

NFC is really useful, fingerprint sensor is accurate and instant, a light touch and you're in, but the best feature is by far the QC4.0 Charging, this phone charges so quickly, if it drops to 40% late in the day (pretty heavy use), a quick 30 minute charge and it's back to 100.
The software has been fully updated regularly, dark mode is just bliss to use, very slick and the camera does eveything I need. I've had some fantastic shots from it. It's been in and out of my pocket and the screen hasn't scratched (though I do try to avoid keys in there).

Really don't understand the negativity, I think it's still one of the best all-round phones available.

Do you get notifications to the side of the notch or is there not enough room?
