This is a really cheap school holiday break for those up North (Newcastle). There is one downside the rubbish flight times! Leaving on 8th August at 11:20pm at night you arrive at 5am in the morning on 9th. I've included the hotel from 8th though so you should be able to check in though. I've not included lugged as I don't know how much a family need but you can add this onto the price depending how light you can pack for a week!

The hotel is the Kandalis, it's a budget option but a quadruple room and literally 5 mins from the beach so for a budget week away you can't go wrong in my opinion. It's in Tsilivi so there are plenty of shops etc nearby. It also has decent reviews for the price.

For the same price also check out Katerine Rooms, it's a little quieter and the transfers are more expensive but it looks lovely too.

I've included transfers in the price which is a taxi at €20 each way as it is cheaper than a shuttle.

Breakdown

Hotel Kandalis £373.92 book @ hotels.com

Flights with Thomas Cook Airlines £509.92

Transfers book a taxi €20 each way, total €40/£31

Total £914.84/£228.71pp

Might want to put "1 week" in the title (8 nights or whatever is practical with the flight times), and "no luggage included" ... (_;) as people will assume otherwise.

Voted cold, my idea of a holiday isn't bodies washing up on the beach.

This deal perhaps isn't for you.
Zante is not usual route for immigrants as it is not near Turkey or Africa which are main departure areas. Good deal!
Correct me if I am wrong but there is no hospital in Zante. Or their is but it is very backwards. When we got to Zante they said if their was anything wrong with anyone they would have to go taken to the mainland to the hospital. Asons their is no such thing as a ambulance. Zante is one of the most beautiful places I have been in the world and would love to go back. Can't cos of serious asthma. So someone tell me I am wrong. Heat from me. For the deal x

There is a hospital Zante TownYour text here but I'd make sure you have Comprehensive travel insurance.
There is absolutely no way I'd entertain a 2* in Greece at any price.

Greece (and Turkey are worse for it) tend to grade their hotels on opening day and never again. I knock off a minimum of 2 stars in Greece and 3 Stars in Turkey off the official rating.

It's cheap but I wouldn't take the risk!
