Co-op have sold most stores to McColls so will be changed over by around November.

Article about Co-Op selling stores to McColls
Edited by: "wiggywig" 15th Aug 2016

it's only the smaller stores that are being sold, not all
"The Co-operative Group has sold 298 small shops to convenience store specialist McColl’s Retail Group for £117m.

The deal, which is subject to approval by the competition watchdog, leaves the Co-op with about 2,450 stores after the sale of 100 properties including 36 stores to Hilco in May"

Can we stop tagging every Co-op deal with the 10% NUS discount?
Not every Co-op offers the NUS discount.

Yeah I actually meant to put most. Hopefully they stick around after the change and it works out

10% is a long way off most though

I suggest you check your facts, and the co-op website. No they don't. It's only a certain type of store. I didn't even realise there was different types of store. I thought they were all the same but apparently not.

Good deal. Will pick these up.

Sorry but I suggest you check what i said. 10% discount is available in every co-op GROUP food store, which is about 2750 of them at the moment. There are other co-op societies that are not part of the scheme, but these aren't co-op group stores

I've only ever come across one near me (a big store at Castle Donington) that doesn't accept NUS cards. It is fair to say that every other Co-Op that I've been in does. The coop website clearly indicates which ones from and don't take the card.

All of the normal Co-Ops take these. I used to think when they listed it as Co-operative Food it was a different store, but they have all swiped my card and accepted it..from the North of Scotland all the way to Exeter.

Why include the NUS discount as part of the 'deal' when it is not accepted at all Co-Ops?

The below Co-operative Societies do NOT accept NUS extra:

Heart of England
Chelmsford
Channel Islands
Seaton Valley
Radstock
Penrith
Tamworth
Allendale
Wooldale
Clydebank
East of England
Lincolnshire
Coniston
Central England

The deal price is £5, which is why that price was made bold. The NUS discount may not be for all, but i think it always worth shouting up about. It's only a case of asking in your local if you're not sure. Also i think the list needs an update as some in Lincoln so accept NUS

Just one that I visited recently - coop.co.uk/sto…ent

The deal isn't even at all co-ops. Selected stores only, full list available here. Press 'Control + F' to search the page for either your town, or the first part of your postcode.

Still at loads of stores though. It'd be silly to remove the deal because it's not at all stores, and likewise to not mention the NUS discount because it's not at all stores.

I wonder though, how many of the stores that don't accept NUS, are even taking part in the £5 meal deal promotion?

I fried chicken as much as the next man, but that SFC stuff is just fowl. The popcorn chicken is some strange kind of grey colour and the coating is floury, crumbly and awful.

This is neither a meal nor a deal

Fairly sure it's a deal at £5 for the lot. It seems loads of people like to get these too. Each to their own though
