FuelSure Diesel Fuel Cap (misfuel protector) from Halfords @ £19.99

Don't be like me today and only get one of these after the inevitable (and costly) mistake at the pumps!
The RAC man who came out to sort my car was a dedicated patrol vehicle as they get so many misfuels. They reckon over 400 motorists misfuel every single day - or one every 4 minutes!

If you are one of those that says "I'd never be so stupid to do that" thats fine but for the sake of £20 I think its a pretty good investment rather than paying some £200 to drain contaminated fuel, without taking into account any potential damage to your car's fuel system.

However, make sure it will fit your diesel car before buying here...racshop.co.uk/car…tml

More info and video here....fuelsure.com/ind…tml

By the way, the RAC want £29.99 for the same product as do FuelSure direct. So for once Halfords aren't too bad!

Dont forget Quidco too - 3% online or 4.5% instore (if you have registered a card)

Hahaha team funniest thing I've seen on here in ages

As long as you didnt fill the car you can get away with some petrol in it, up to about 1/3rd of petrol and a diesel car will still start and run, just keep topping the tank up with diesel as the fuel gauge goes down, till its all diesel again

Putting a bit of petrol in the diesel helps the diesel stay runny in very cold weather.

Merc card even had in their handbooks up till recently that having up to 30% of petrol in the tank was ok

You pick up the wrong nozzle at the pump?

Ford have a system which supposedly wont allow the wrong size nozzle to be inserted (Petrol and diesel pump nozzles are different sizes).

Easily done.

We used to have 2 cars - one diesel, and when you are stressed, minds on other things, in a hurry, etc - it is only too easy to do it.

Fortunately I have not come a cropper but I would love to speak to all these 'Never could happen to me cos I use a sticker' brigade in 20 years time.

Perhaps if you have nothing else going on in your head, then perhaps you are more able to concentrate on only the task in hand - but some of us put our brains to work.

Could never happen to me
thanks to Ford's ingenuity.

30% petrol in a diesel? Depends on what tech your car is - no way on an up to date common rail engine - you'll get away with it on something 10 years older or more. Mine won't even allow you to use Biodiesel (VW 2.0TDI/170PS engine).

Anyone who doesn't engage their brain when they fill up with today's fuel prices obviously has too much money.

Double bubble for me. Ford's ingenuity ... and I'm not simple.

I've had a petrol car for 10 years wife has a diesel I very rarely fill it up, have a petrol motorbike wham bam thank you sam, free RAC tow to garage and £70 to local mechanic to drain it later, plus the £60 petrol I gave him that he used to run a chainsaw.

Ideal for all you tractor owners out there!

Most motorists do put there brains to work, hence these mistakes are the minority.....

Setting yourself up for a fall there - arrogant s*d!

Several vehicles in house + inconsistent nozzle colours + in a hurry = .........

If you are ever unlucky enough to do it in a modern diesel DON'T start it! Once you do the system is contaminated and the bill can easily exceed £5K - really!

Oh - I've got a good way it could happen. You pay 'like' £1000 to insure your teenage son on your car,
and then the idiot fills it up with the wrong fuel! (yes; you guessed...)

I was lucky if we were left enough petrol to get the car to a garage, filling it up, would have been unexpected, teenagers think cars run on air, no wonder he would have put the wrong stuff in, was he on drugs? LOL

Don't need this only ever fill up with Red Diesel

Funnily enough I know people who fill up with red, and no, they are not farmers!

Voted hot from me - easy to do when you have other things on your mind and screaming kids in the car!
