Fuji X-E1 with 18mm f2 lens £365 refurbished (using PAYPAL12 code) @ Fujifilm

Found 11th Jul 2014
Been looking for a Fuji mirrorless deal and kept seeing how cheap the X-E1 is compared to the X-E2 and XT1 but couldn't part with £600 for the deals with a lens. Saw this deal from Fuji fully refurbished for £365 with a lens worth £300 thanks to a code found on here (PAYPAL12) and bit the bullet. Brilliant camera. Now looking for the 18-55 lens to add to the system.

Tempted to get this for the lens and try to sell the body, or keep as a backup.

Was looking at this body in currys a few weeks ago, very nice.

It's a good deal, but I how much is for portrait lens? What's the sensor size? Does anybody used some speedbosters like Megabones or similar Chinese copy?

I've been after the 18mm lens for a while and was after an upgrade if my X-M1 body as I miss the viewfinder. This deal is perfect for me as I one get the X-E1 for only £60 effectively after the PayPal code.

Fantastic camera, I have had one for about a year now, with the 18-55 and 55-200 lenses, if you add a thumb grip and the handle accessory it makes all of the difference to the handling. At this price its worth a punt.

That's a ridiculously good deal… I just took mine to on a 1-week trip with the 27mm lens, and couldn't be happier with the output.

If you buy a new one from an approved retailer you can claim a free 50-230 lens from fuji. However I can't find a new one close to this price, so this seems good. Supposed to be a good camera but I went with micro 4/3 in the end for cheaper and smaller lenses. The Fuji range are seriously nice though!

Voucher can also be used for other cameras. I tried for the xpro 1 body and the discount was £50.

I know very little about cameras but I know how much some cost, people could spend thousands for a second hand camera and lens, just because you clearly also know nothing about cameras doesn't mean you should make silly comments like that does it.

Remember, if you want a Fujifilm X-Trans sensor CSC then the X-M1 is still available for £409 with a 16-50mm lens AND you can claim a free 50-230mm lens until September

I have an XE-1 and an XM-1 and both are superb cameras. But, whilst the XM-1 does have a swivel screen, it is very difficult to use in very bright sunshine and sometimes you have to take pot luck on what you have in the frame and in focus. The XE-1 has a superb viewfinder (but no swivel screen).

The XM-1 is a plastic bodied camera and whilst very well made it is not as strong as the metal bodied XE-1. The XC lenses are optically superb but have plastic lens mounts. I knocked mine last month in France and the lens mount snapped and the lens fell to the floor. Entirely my fault but something to be aware of.

I suspect that Fuji are clearing the remaining stocks of Chinese made XA and XM camera bodies and XC lenses by offering free lens packages and will return to the Made in Japan X bodies and lenses, apart from the XF 27mm which is the only premium Fuji XF lens that is Chinese made. I have one and it is superb, but has that all important metal lens mount.

Yep. Was tempted but no viewfinder. I bought an eos-m as they were dirt cheap but can't get on with it.

I think you are missing the point here. The lens alone is worth £299, making this an absolute bargain. There are some camera bodies costing thousands. Horses for causes. If you want something for a few snaps the stick with something cheaper with an integrated zoom. However, if you are semi serious about photography as a hobby then this a great bargain.

body on its own is £299 and lens £399 from amazon, so who is right in the head?

I think the Fuji refurbished cameras and lenses are overpriced. If you do some shopping around and take the free lens deals into consideration you can pick up brand new X cameras for less than refurbs.

Example? Not for the x-e1 mate thats for sure.

Actually, it was the X-E1. You can get the XF 18-55mm F2.8-4 R kit for £600, I've actually seen it considerably cheaper on quite a few occasions, with that you can claim an XC 50-230 lens that's worth approximately £300, I've sold one for £225 net fees very recently... Which makes a brand new X-E1 plus XF 18-55mm F2.8-4 R (which is a vastly superior, and more expensive lens than the 18mm) kit cost £375.

The last Fuji lens redemption offer on the X-E1 was even better than that.

So yeah, in my opinion the refurbs are overpriced.

The refurb lenses are comedy prices 10-24 refurb £799? They don't even throw in a protective filter anymore.

Fuji X-Trans cameras are decent but they're overrated and overpriced, especially the lenses.

The colours for anything other than portraiture and monochrome just don't work, whatever settings you use. If you want to take landscapes in daylight (or video) don't bother with a Fuji X.

As a working photographer, this is a seriously lovely camera, I prefer it to my D800 setup and day of the week. The 18mm lens is very good whilst the other Fuji primes are world class. I have the full prime set and the 18mm is my favourite for Street photography. It's around a 24mm full frame equivalent viewpoint. Throw the camera in manual, shoot RAW and you'll get some amazing work.
Note that Fuji recently introduced some consumer lens which whilst optically sound use plastic rather than metal casings. This kit here is not consumer, it's pro prime camera real estate. For the price you cannot go wrong here.

This is such an utterly useless comment. I really don't think you are right in the head.

Mine just turned up - had a quick play - looks pristine :-)

Really tempted, going to currys tonight to have a look at the XE1 body, I am guessing it is a nice combi with this prime lens

Snap. Mine arrived five mins ago. No time to play yet!

Just back from currys, picked up the XE1 kit for £329, Does this mean I can claim a free lens?

What lens kit? That's a spectacular deal, well played.
Yes, you should be able to claim the free lens, if it's the 18-55 kit that is... If it's just the camera body then no.

Great, lens is 18 to 55 xf zoom. They had body only for £299 or lens kit for £329. Was a little concerned that deal was not as good as the fuji 18mm lens kit

It a mile better than that deal here. The 18-55 lens is insanely good... and you can claim the 50-230 lens from Fuji.
Well done, deal of the day!

Thank you sir, just got camera out and tried the lens on, built like a tank and is just like cameras I used to own in the 70/80s. Love the aperture ring on the lens. Must admit I was a little worried as I only went to look and there was a sticker on display saying something like £400 off the original price, surprisingly the staff managed to find the last one and i sort of got railroaded in to buying the camera without really doing my homework. Seems I did the right thing

You certainly did, that's an epic deal! The 18-55 is such a good lens, probably worth what you paid for the camera on it's own.
The free 50-230 lens you can claim is also very good, no aperture ring though, unfortunately...
Enjoy the camera, it's a superb piece of kit. Especially at that price!

Just had a look at the lens on the net, you are right. The lens seems to go for £300-400, wow, I am really pleased. I expected the lens to retail around £80 -£100, as it is just in fact a three times zoom

Did the refurbished lens come in a separate box or in with the X-E1? Just bought one and I'm wondering what to expect when Mr. Delivery man appears.
