Was waiting for Argos to drop the price of this one before xmas but they didn't so bought the A170 from Jessops as seen on HUKD very pleased with it and has same spec as this A180 feels good quality for a point & shoot at this price range i found using 2700mAh rechargeables is best anything less seems to always say reduced battery power on the screen voted hot

Might be worth checking in the manual, most cameras these days have a setting somewhere in the menus to select the used battery type to alkaline or nimh. If the type is set to alkaline and you're using nimh it might well give this effect.

is this a better choice of camera than the Samsung ES15

Yep cheers already sussed that out when going the settings etc it is true what i said the 2700mAh batts do work far better over the 2300mAh i first used which may sound a bit obvious as they are more powerful anyway.:)

Bought this yesterday, without seeing the deal on the site as i checked the Argos site a few days back. Good design and easy to use. great quality.

just an fyi for people buying this camera. I bought the a170 model and seems alright for a 1st camera.

You MUST not buy regular NiMh rechargeable batteries (alkaline even a bigger no no).

Get the hybrid NiMh instead like these ones
hotukdeals.com/ite…go-
also this USB charger seems nice (batteries dont get hot)
7dayshop.com/cat…028
or batterylogic.co.uk/tec…asp (aka la crosse technology)
or eneloop from amazon if you have the extra cash.

Even though normal NiMh quote high power ratings, the hybrids can not only last a long time unused but also under load in some cases.

With the A170 I managed to get about 300 pics (mostly with flash) with the 7dayshop batts without recharging.

I also got this class 6 SDHC card.amazon.co.uk/Byt…1-3

p.s. The A170 has a setting for NiMh batteries but it sometimes forgets this setting if there are no batteries inside for a long time

Is this Camera any good please?.

Mine is 2 megapixel and takes a 16mb memory card!.

I have rechargable batteries already, is this a good camera?. I only use my camera about once a year, maybe twice if something exciting happens :w00t:

It's just for trips out

Thanks, i'd get the Asda one but i have no credit card:x

By the sounds of it I'd save your money and put it towards a more exciting life if it only gets exciting once or twice a year :):):) Excellent camera

Yes, by far, Fuji make far better cameras than Samsung.
