I am not sure if they are doing it nationwide or not but in the Trowbridge branch as you walk in they have new vouchers which give you £6 off a £30+ spend on electricals so this would bring the F20 down to £61.34.

Voted hot.

A fantastic snapper (with some manual options). I paid £75 a few months back. Absolutely brilliant unit. Great battery life, great images, good for party shots and the like too.

Very hot and a very respectable find. Have both.

The only problem I have with these things is they use the as opposed to the SD card, and my MIL wants a Wii as well and it isn't compatible with the for the card slot. any ideas...?

Just got one from the Wigan branch, cheers. It was marked as for clearance and hidden below the main camera shelf.

This be one

This is a great camera. I have a F10 and F20 in the family, stick to the F series Fuji, you cant go wrong!

These have to be the best compact cameras for night photography, almost as good as the pro DSLRs. That doesnt mean its bad for day, the lens is very sharp and produces some of the cleanest photos I have seen!

The F480 is INFERIOR to the F20

The F480 is INFERIOR to the F20

Here here - I agree the F20 is a better camera

I got the F20 from argos when it was on £80. Good all round camera.

Great camera - total no brainer at this price.....pound for pound this has to be the best VFM camera on the market at the moment, certainly at this silly price.

I've not heard ONE single complaint about this cam apart from some fussy fool moaning cos his mac wasn't intelligent enought to see it as an attached device....buy a £3 xd card reader then !!

is the f10fd...better or worse,,,what do u all reckon:-

fujifilm.co.uk/con…0fd

and it takes sd.... - thought all the fuji's could deal with both now?

f10 isnt as good it is inferior

Agreed, F20 is a fine camera. In fact its all the digital camera most people would ever need. The only slight problem with it, is lack of manual control over exposure and no viewfinder - but these are things that most people would never need - hence a fantastic price for a great camera.

thanks.... on what basis?

our local camera shop said the f31 is upgrade to the f20 and the f40 is upgrade to the f31. apparently the f31 is being in the process of coming out as refurbished so they should be on clearance soon too.
Hope that helps. If its wrong - blame the camera shop!

I wasn't moaning, if you had cared to read my post you would have seen that I was/am very happy with my camera and if you had bothered to read an update you would have seen that Fuji Technical Support offered me an alternative using Image Capture that I am using now, it's not ideal but I am happy to compromise as it's such a good camera.

Also, if you can tell me where I can pay £3 including P&P for an Reader I will buy one, being a fool I have obviously not been able to find one for that price.

Thanks, I have used LED Shoppe a few times too, had a faulty batch of rechargables from them but they refunded me fairly sharpish and their little LED torches are cool so I give them the thumbs up too.

This one is even better...

The F40fd is the upgrade for the F20.
The F50fd is the upgrade for the F30/F31fd

You have no control over the shutter speed and aperture with the F20 and F40fd.

Many 'experts' suggest not bothering with the F40fd and the F50fd as they say the higher picture resolution provides too much noise and a lesser image quality compared to the F20 and F30 models, the 6mp versions are regarded as being Fuji's 'sweet spot'

Only joshing - just get fed up with people who trol these deals with the most ridiculous reasons why something isn't a bargain.

can someone explain why the F480 is not as good as this F20?
cheers

I actually voted hot, I am certainly no troll, just wanted to make other Mac Users buying this camera aware that this model wasn't the same as previous Fuji's as they don't mount.

Depends on what you want, F10 has more manual options...

Does anyone know if any of the Fuji cameras have IS?

Thanks

Certainly the F50fd does. The F20 has a little button in the bottom right to turn anti-shake on - don't know how effective it is, mind.

no stock in Slough branch.
Looks like its end of line too, they werent getting any more in.. boo!

anyone know the next best price?
it seems like a good camera, want to get one for mums birthday.

F20 doesn't have Image Stabilsation as such. The button is to use higher auto ISO to increase shutter speed rather than stabilise the sensor or lens.

see other f20 thread. £75 tesco direct but free delivery codes available

I have gone for the F480 in the end due to its size. The other cameras in the Fuji range are just a bit too big for me.

Original Poster

Out of stock at tesco direct now which is why I looked in store. Managed to get myself one online but wanted one for my sister as well. Am very impressed with mine so far! Think Asda has them in store at the mo for £80.

The F480 will be around £80 in boots tommorow (a sign in my local said you get £10 for every £50 spent).

I've searched for reviews but can't find many proper ones for the F480 - do you guys think the F480 has more or less manual control than the F10 or F20? What about image quality of the two?

Its quite hard to get proper reviews on the internet because the camera was only released in the UK on the 1st October. It may be best trying it out for yourself or wait for some more people to post their reviews on here and MSE?

I just picked one of these up at my local Tescos. Thanks for the heads-up.

As has been mentioned above, they don't have these cameras on display. Just look for a DVD sized case nearby that has the camera's details written on the cover. It was on the bottom shelf and I would never have seen it unless I knew what to look for.

Or even just ask at the tech counter as they may just have them in stock.

Yeah, I will see what Boot's return policy is first though. I'd only buy it tomorrow anyway since that's when it'll only be £80. I'll think about it overnight.

MAJOR THANKS TO THE OP!!!!

My cousin got this cam in the argos deal a while back, so having used it , I JUMPED at the chance to pick it up for £67.47!
Went into the ABSURDLY MASSIVE Tesco in Pollock Glasgow.
Couldn’t see it anywhere on the shelf, as the op said. So I asked a member of staff who informed me they were the camera buyer for Tesco in Scotland.
She said nah we don’t have that model, I would know I would have discounted it, I said what about other stores, she said no, this is the biggest, and I would have stocked it at the other branches!
JUST as I was about to leave, a VERY HELPFUL chap walked out the store cupboard, and the “camera buyer” asked him to check, she said we don’t have a fuji f20 do we, he said “yep we have SIX”!!
She said to me how much did you see it for, I was like £67 odd, oh theres no way a fuji 6 mega pixel cam would be under £70.
Helpful chap scanned and low and behold £67.47 pence!
I ll have one of them I said, the look on HER face was priceless, I wish I had taken the cam out the box there an then & snapped her!
