Didn't get the best review, though. Take some pics and see what you think. Since you just bought it, you could exchange it if you're not happy. Another HotUK member pointed me to this comparison which I found helpful (the better cameras are way more expensive):

I had a look at the other choices too, but as I'm just starting up and am on a budget just thought i'd give it a go, and it is a budget camera at only £140, so won't be losing out too much if I use it for a while and decide to upgrade

I have this camera and I love it ... compact enough to carry about easily and I have never been disapponited with the results it gives me ... definately worth it at that price

Firstly can I just say that I don't own or have any personal experience of this camera, so I'm basing the following comments on research I did before buying my Panasonic FZ38 last month.

Apparently the main problem with this camera is the excessive noise reduction that is applied, especially to higher iso images, which can make photos look a bit "plasticy". I don't know if this can be changed in the camera settings (I can change it on my Panasonic FZ38) but if it can be changed it may give better image quality.

Good camera at a good price, but if you can get the S2000HD then get that instead. I purchased this and was slightly disapointed so exchanged it for the 2000 and was not disapointed HTH

Hmmm. This is "bottom of the class" in every department.

Yeh I noticed that but they are putting it up against cameras that are over £100 more than this to buy and if your on a budget or just starting up, I think it's a fantastic choice, I just received mine today and i'm very pleased with it for the price I paid!

Pretty good considering I got the 12X zoom, 10MP s1500 for £97 a few months ago. The video isn't great on the s1500 though, so I'd check out some youtube uploads from this camera. Video picture quality seems good but sound isnt great. If you are just after a stills camerathough, then the 18X optical on this should be good.

Good zoom and easy to carry around camera if it is anything like my older model Fuji FinePix s8000fd which uses 4 rechargeable AA batteries. The lens mechanism might be a weak point though as mine developed 'a lens control error' twice in the 1st year of ownwership and was repaired free by Fuji. The Finepix S2500HD model posted here may be different mechanism and may not suffer from that problem.

How does this compare to the £180 Panasonic Lumix TZ7?
