Retro styling isn't an issue. The real question is, is it any good? Seems like most reviews I've seen so far say it is, albeit wih a few cons such as the face recognition software not being great, the joystick on the back being small and poor position and the sensitivity of the camera switching between the eyepiece and the screen being quite high when you tilt the camera too much.

Verry verryy tempting.

EDIT: What's making me stall atm is checking out the quality/usefulness of the lens that comes with the camera, and the price of a further lens or two to cover various uses between portrait and landscape photography.

The RRP is nonsense for this, usually like £700

That's a spectacular saving for a lot of camera. The lens that comes with it doesn't seem to be great going by the reviews so you'd be spending a few more hundred pounds to get a decent one. Still, that's a serious alternative, thanks!

Only the x-t30 is a far superior camera. Its like 10 years newer and does things that sony doesnt know exists.

might be newer, but it is a cropped sensor. it's like saying the latest kia is better than a 10 year old ferrari because the kia has built-in bluetooth

I dont think youd regret getting one - the only reason i dont like the x-t30 is its size. Its truly awful to hold with any of the pro or larger mid range lens's. But on the flip side its a stupidly powerful camera for its size. I tend to use the x-t30 with a pancake rather than my rx100m4 as the size isnt massively different but the capability is.
The Q button isnt really an issue. The Q does get activated occasionally but its no problem to flick the menu back off. It was a concern of mine but soon died.
I always flog the kit lens's anyway so just factor it into the price. I got £90 on the bay for one of these.

Sensor size is often a moot point. My X-T2 produces stunning images from an APS-C sensor. Full frame may provide a slight advantage, but only in low light.

Thanks so much for this review. I have an RX100M4 myself, and although it is a step up from my smartphone, I was looking for my next upgrade and was considering the XT-30. Just a quick question: do you have any lenses to recommend (similar sort of focal length as kit) if I did flog the kit lens?
