Personally I'd rather spend a little more and get the 320GB WD Passport...

Or ]320GB for £69.44

Surely this is a 320Gb one, but this company are the only one's to correctly advertise it at the 300Gb (well, 298Gb) that it actually is!???

Anyone have thoughts on Toughdrives?

It's a possibility, (and it would actually be a nice thing to see!) but I guess it would take someone who already has this drive to confirm.

On paper it seems quite likely as 160GB is a standard platter size.

Tinners,
I have had a toughdrive for a couple of years and it is great. Small, has been trailled half way round the world and has a (very) short build in lead so you can connect even if you have forgotten the USB lead. Never caused me the slightest problem and always run from the connector from a single USB plug.

Not very portable if 50X50X50 cm and 590gm as stated in Amazon description.

Yes it is a great price, but personally i'd rather spend less and get this 250GB portable drive with 3 year warranty for £49.99 @ Aldi

am tempted by this was waiting for the passport to come down... it infuriates me that HD companies advertise 320gb as 1gb being 1,000,000,000 bits 1GB is 1,073,741,824. Being a CS student it really annoys me if your buying a 320gb hd it should show 320gb on your pc.

Do not buy Western Digital Passport drives!
In my experience they will all fail at some point - not worth it, if the data you have on there is important.
We used them at work and I have seen about 8 out 10 WD drives totally fail!

Hey this looks smart - do you think it would work with the PS3 for a bit of extra storage? Im looking for something which doesnt require a power supply, if the PS3 can power it with USB id be sorted!

Great!

I ordered mine at 1745 yesterday, it arrived at 9am this morning.

The software - if you want, you can install software on your computer (which comes with the HD) to password protect it. BUT YOU DONT HAVE TO. Contrary to what some have said, if you dont want to use the password software, the HD is plug-in-and-use. With the software, you need to have it installed on every computer that you use the HD with, and the password is on the actual HD so if you forget it, you're screwed.

The HD comes with a cool little leather bag with room for the usb lead. There are two usb leads, in case your usb port has insufficient power.

Its a great gadget, I am loading stuff onto it right now and its comfortably fast.

The PS3 will power it fine. You could just buy the 320Gb WD 2.5" SATA off Play.com (£49.99) and replace your PS3's internal drive if thats all you want it for

Got that from Amazon last week for £49.99 delivered, nice piece of kit.

I've been looking for deal on a portable drive for a while now, and I'm quite tempted by the Fujitsu.

Not sure if this 320GB Buffalo Drive is a better deal. It's a fiver more than the Fujitsu, but seems more like a Freecom Toughdrive which is about £20 more.

amazon.co.uk/Buf…SSS

What do you guys think? Any feedback would be appreciated.

SirHugo

I think they're both good drives. I think the Buffalo is a bit on the chunky side, but I'd choose it for the protection though I doubt it's as good as the Freecom, but that's rather pricey.

I have the freecom 250 toughdrive for several months now and its brilliant. Personally I'd pay extra for the reliability rather than risk it with the WDs or any other make.

Seems to be £69.99 right now

No, that's the price at Digital Components.
