That's true of the majority of desktops costing over £400 but doesn't stop them from being good value for many people; I don't personally rate this deal highly though.

prove it

Or you could buy the Vostro 410 quad core deal which comes to £296 after Quidco if you upgrade to a 500GB HDD. Then add 2GB of Kingston DDR2-800 to bump it up to 4GB and a Sapphire HD 4850, both from eBuyer, so for £434 in total you have a much faster GPU, 4GB of 800MHz RAM and a spare HD 2400 that you can turn into a pendant.
The Vostro 410 case is a step up from the 200/400 and it comes with a 1 year on-site warranty compared to the collect and return of the Fujitsu.

You would need to change the power supplu too. Pkus It wouldn't surprise me if the 8800gt was too long to fit inside the cheap case.

The HD 4850 doesn’t consume much power; according to Anandtech and Techreport a whole system with a HD 4850 under full load consumes about 230W AC which equates to under 200W DC. So a modern 300W power supply can handle that with plenty of safe headroom.

The 8800 GT is an option for the Vostro 410 so it will fit; I’m not sure of the length of the HD 4850 though!

4850 is the same length as an 8800GT.

Would changing the graphics card invalidate the Dell warranty?

No.

I have a 9800GT card in a Vostro 200 case, which is similar depth, and although it is long it does fit although there are a lot of cables in there and you have to route them away from the card fan.

As it's a quad-core PC, the PSU will most probably be a 350W one, & as Dell underrate their PSUs it won't be a problem at all power-wise.

My only concern is whether the PSU comes with a PCI-E connector. The 'DC Power Connector P10' in the ]PSU specs is a 6pin PCI-E connector?

What does the 'cheapness' of a case have anything to do with fitting a lengthy graphics card? Isn't size of case all that really matters here?

It sure looks like a 6 pin PCIe power connector and since the Vostro 400 comes with a 6 pin PCIe connector even if you spec a Core 2 Duo 2.2 and integrated graphics I think it’s a fairly safe bet.

I bought a ACER quad core computer for £399 last week ,it is the same specs as the Fujitsu but also has a combined BLU-RAY/HD-DVD player,so £50 cheaper for alot more,no contest i reckon.
