damn you wiggle...... always trying to give my wife reason for divorcing me!!

The 2nd customer review on the website is horrendous.

Was about to post this myself. Don't know anything about the frame but groupset and wheels alone make this a great deal.

2.1% TCB and free pack of haribo too...

personally I would go with the more established bike manufacturers when spending this kind of money.

I bought a Canyon of the same spec (groupset, wheels and carbon frame) which set me back £1400, the other components like tires, saddle etc... are better, but not sure they are £600 better

Certainly not a bike snob. I have only just started cycling and looking to buy my first road bike after a couple of great years on my Hybrid. it's only a personal choice but for security I would go for a manufacturer and bike with plenty of reviews of years of delivering good bikes. Might just be cautious but that's how I will buy mine. I posted a deal for the defy 0 for 799 which looks to be a pretty decent buy.

It's got a two year frame warranty, any problems and your covered, the same length of warranty as 99% of well known big brands.

to be fair it's a lifetime warranty on specialized and canyon

frame warranties aren't all that, if something is going to fail it isn't likely to be the frame!

I come from a MTB background, so seen frames fail believe me, road frames maybe not so much though to be fair

groupset £300
Wheels £120
not sure I quite follow you in how those two make this a great deal - the 2013 review with lower groupset says the wheels are the budget sort but bombproof making them ideal for either winter or british roads
like the frame has internal cabling though

Until you need to replace the cables that is!!!

Finally an Eastway with decent looking paint job.

aye and its a fair point although, as you know, the theory is you don't have to do replace them so often

Good components

A bike newcomer here but someone who has been tracking bike prices for a while.

I would suggest an alternative - 105, mavic wheel but without carbon - 6061 aluminium instead and £200 cheaper. decathlon.co.uk/tri…tml (with better frame warranty)

This is a good price comparitively speaking i.e. comparing components against another carbon frame with 105 groupset and mavic wheels.

The Eastway has 5800 not 5700 series, and it's the full groupset, not bits of it.
That and the carbon frame, £200 more seems alright.

Having ridden both, 5800 is miles better than 5700.

Eastway are quite new, but they have very good backing behind them. I believe they were launched 2 years ago as the own brand of Fisher Outdoor Leisure. Fisher are a major bike and component distributor and I think they share an owner (ISIS) with Wiggle - which might help to explain the good deals

I bought an Eastway FB2 from Wiggle back in March. It's the same colour scheme as this bike and has proven a good buy so far. Not the lightest bike, but the components are solid and it's done 1500 commuting miles already

I get giant tcr 1 2015 full ultegra in March for £1200 from tredz

its not that bad, the trick is not to take the old cable out too soon!

here is how i do it:
first undo the cable at the mech
pull it out a bit from the shifter and cut the end off
pull it through to where it goes into the frame (but not into the frame)
cut and old bit of cable outer and get the plastic bit in the middle (about 30 cm or so should do it)
slide the old cable half way into the old cable outer plastic and the new cable in the other half (after going through the shifters and outer cables etc)
then gently pull the old cable out and push the new cable gently at the same time, be careful not to pull the old cable out of the plastic outer bit.
then job done!

sound worse than it is but once you have done it once it is pretty straight forward

Spec seems ok for the price, but I note is only comes with basic flat pedals which seems a little odd for this spec and type of bike. Might need to factor in clipless pedals. Bars seem to have a very shallow drop , unless they have a different bar with a deeper drop for larger frame sizes that may suit those looking for a more racey ride. Dont know about kenda tyres but may end up replacing them .... or not.

Good grief ,ISIS own wiggle now !?

That's with the Apex groupset but well overpriced

I am after something around £800-£1000, ideally full 105/ultegra and a carbon frame. Needs to be large size ( 58 - 61cm ). Many of these deals are perfect but the bikes are too small.

Any recommendations?

Lol at the "ISIS" investor naming - livingbridge.com/our…io/ is the one that is interested in bike brands

One thing I should add....

Be careful with the Eastway's sizing. The FB2.0 in particular was sized at least a size down from "normal" - at 5'10 I'd normally be a M or M/L - but I bought an S and would probably have been comfortable on an XS
