I picked one of these up on Sunday (15% off weekend - sorry for not posting then, manic few days!)

I have been on the lookout and have seen lots of cheap, smaller toolboxes on the site lately, but I needed something bigger.

Researching reviews on Stanley, a common complaint is plastic latches. Here's a good-sized, name-brand box with steel latches.
Top half separates just below the very handy red swivel compartment, usual tray is found in top half under lid.

In-store I think they had the RRP at £35 or something - it's currently £24.99 at Argos (save £10: argos.co.uk/sta…htm ) - very good reviews on both Homebase & Argos

Good deal for under £20

-not sure how long it'll be on offer for - please expire when no longer available

These are rubbish quality - the side latches break (red bit on the side with the wheel)

Honestly, find another solution - cheap plastic toolboxes are false economy.

I've just inspected the side latches - for my needs and for 20 quid, I'm sure I can be careful enough not to break them (fyi, both the red and black plastic is thick enough not to flex, and it's held on by 7 clasps each side - seems decent to me)

Looks like the stanley ones i have two of. Flimsy design makes connecting top and bottom a pain and you will want to kill whoever designed the latches that lock the carry handle up. If you get this as a FD pressy be warned they may remember you every time they lick it

Damn DEFY keyboard I typed kick it!

Eye ate hit wean thy spiel chequered doves hat!

flimsy but ok for the money

Thanks for the post OP.

Can anyone recommend a stronger one that doesn't break the bank ?

Went to Homebase last week and ended up getting the £7.50 plastic Stanley tool box with free organiser, as the one I liked they wanted £19.99 for (the 19 inch Stanley 'one touch' toolbox),and the cheapest (Poundland style) organiser was upwards of £7-8...

I also wanted a hot glue gun but they wanted £25 for the Stanley 80watt duel melt hot glue gun,and about £5-6 for a small pack of the glue sticks,so ended up leaving that on the shelf.

Got an email from ASDA Direct that night and they have the 19 inch 'one touch' for £9,the 80watt glue gun for £7.50,and the glue sticks for £1.50 a pack, all pick up instore...RESULT!.

19 inch tool box is O.K (excellent for £9!),I only want it for a soldering station, audio cables, general electronic repair stuff and it is perfect for that. The other is a bit flimsy, but still O.K for my needs.

ASDA Direct are still selling the above at the same price if anyone is interested.

Pick up one of the B&D ones from Homebase tomorrow though!.

Heat added!.
