Was shopping in Bolton town centre, and Home Bargains are selling a SKY+[plus] remote control for just £2.99.

It contains all the SKY+[plus] buttons play/record/pause, etc and Box office,TV Guide, etc.
Maybe not quite as tactile as the real thing, but not bad for the price.

Just got it home and it works straight out of the packaging with SKY+[plus] - and just like a proper SKY+[plus] remote, you can program it to control your TV using a simple manufacturer code.

Just programmed mine to work on a phillips TV.

This is a great price for a SKY+[plus] controller - it's very useful for me as this second controller can live upstairs, as I use a Video Sender to watch SKY in the bedroom.

Hopefully, this is nation wide.

Please note that SKY+[plus] remotes are NOT compatible with Standard SKY boxes.

I'm not sure about HD boxes, but I'm inclined to think they might be different as well.

I got one in glasgow!:)

The store locator map shows no stores in scotland but when I searched for perth it came up with one in rutherglen, glasgow. Hopes this helps any Scottish bargain hunters out there that have been feeling left out.

B&M bargains is in Maryhill area , I cant remember the district but if you head for the Asda in Maryhill it is in the same shopping area , there is another in uddingston and Kilmarnock that i know of . They are taking over old Au Natural stores according to an email from their customer services .

They had a sky+ in silver and a standard sky one in black at kettering today.

I picked up a black one.

Senders are a doddle to set up, I use a teknika one from tesco for around £25. Plug the transmitter one into scart on sky box (or whatever you want to send) and the reciever into the telly in the other room. To get the remote to operate you then have to plug the remote sender into transmitter box and place where the sky box can read the signal. The hardest part is making the remote sender look neat. The only other thing to watch is you can get some interferance from wireless networks as they use similar frequencies. I have a slight flicker on mine but my sister has the same set up and hers is perfect. I probably just need to spend more time on mine.

The only one in Scotland is in Rutherglen (suburb of Glasgow)..........
I live about 15 mins drive from it and always pop in once a week to see their deals, as they always have loads of good stuff.

It is easy to set a sender up.
I've got a scart switching block with two outputs [one composite] - or even simpler you could connect via the SKY+ euro scart at the back or use a scart splitter.
My method isn't RGB for the upstairs telly - but I've not seen a sender that supports that anyway.

I get a good picture upstairs from my sender - but I have to point out that our bedroom is right above the sender in the downstairs front room. Our upstairs TV is also a CRT model, which is more forgiving than modern TV's.

I do get a little bit of audio humming noise when the picture is pure white, and on the sky menu's but nothing too serious; in use when watching TV, it's barely noticeable

The main problem for most people with Senders is interference.
I use a 2.4ghz one - which is shared by Wi-Fi and many cordless telephone.
Fortunately - it's doesn't affect me - my Sender has 4 channels, and the forth one works best.
I was a little surprised at this, because my Sender is right next to my wireless router and cordless telephone!

You can buy more expensive Sender's which operate on 4.8ghz, which are meant to be better. They still only transmit composite pictures though. So if you have a posh LCD TV in your bedroom; you may still be unsatisfied with the picture even without any interference problems!

Finally, I'm afraid not all Sender's are as good as each other.
I bought one of the ALDI Tevion Sender's for my parents last year, but couldn't get satisfactory results out of that either at my parents or in my house. Even when I turned off every other wireless and electrical appliance in the house. I took that back in the end.
I'm using a One for All Sender that I bought about 4/5 years ago.

Ha ha
My girlfriend until recently went mad when I dragged in her once every other week or so into places like this.
That is until she found something she considered a bargain.
Now she's as bad as I am!

Plenty of stock in Llandudno, North Wales. These remotes are 'Ross' make and are sold at Asda for nearly 12 pounds. They work perfectly with Sky+ HD.

Got one from Doncaster for £2.99

It works a treat, although the mute button doesn't work. This isnt a major problem though, just wondered do other people have the same problem with this remote or is just mine? :?
