Don't focus on the negatives. £79.99 for a NeoGeo X Gold, £14.99 for a Atari Flashback 3 and £24.99 for a SEGA Megadrive with 60 games. I just listed the full lot
Super tempted by the Retron 5 at that price. Heat!
It looks like they updated the JXD price to £69.99 now. Someone is watching!
Hmmm gone for a retron 5 at that price you could always sell the controller on and get £25 back if rather use original controllers and theres a way of playing the roms off sd card which is andy as well also is it me or has the neo geo x increased in value and at £79.99 seems tempting as well.

The Neo Geo X is extremely tempting. I posted it around 3 months ago from these guys when they had a promo code which reduced it down to £107.99. They currently have it listed at £149.99 (which is evidently higher than the price at that time) and I think it retails on Amazon at £159.99.

Yea ive gone for one tho says back order and looking at ebay prices it seems to have gone up in value and becoming scarce.
Heat, the retron looks crazy!

I personally think its great espicially if loading the roms from a sd card its pretty much like having multi everdrives on 1 sd card.
Code 5FORAW should give 5% off also
6% off code is GYL
Takes the retron 5 down to £84.59
looks like neo geo x is out of stock now.
Beware I had a very bad service experience with Funstock. They tightly control all "reviews" on their own site and vetoed my comments on their Facebook page when I had a complaint. Very much led me to believe the positive reviews were either fake or cherry-picked so that only 5 star reviews appear on their sites. When I questioned (nicely) their review policy on their Facebook page they blocked me. This all for a JXD device which I had questions about.
I bought the Retron from ebay new for around £100.

Although a refurb is cheaper, these machines can be quite problematic, so buying a used one could prove to have problems later on.

I had to exchange 2 before finally getting a good third one and they were all new.

First one just stopped working after a few weeks, second one I had to reinsert games about 5-10 times for the machine to read them...

For the sake of £20, get a new one, or get a used/refurb model but be prepared for problems...

Cracking machine though, my SNES, Megadrive library is alive and kicking again!
I'd bite at the neo X at £40, even despite its terrible, terrible reviews. I think people just like the box and the controller. The handheld is garbage, not even the correct screen ratio, and the emulation is apparently worse than running the neo geo emulator on an old PSP. A few eBay sellers raise the price, and everyone thinks it's going rare and is def worth it after all.

In short, it's a piece of sh*t

It says the SD is for firmware updates. Can it be used for Roms too?
I could do with some advice here please. I have a 4 year old who is used to playing a Nintendo Wii when at his mum's house. I've no idea about gaming, though I remember some of those original Atari games like Missile Command etc. So the basic Atari seems a cheap deal, but will it be rubbish or neglected after a few plays? He's used to playing Mario Kart after all. Or am I better getting something second hand on eBay?

Thanks for all advice.

I love the old Atari stuff but they are extremely basic by today's standards, even for a 4 year old. I'd definitely go the second hand route for an old console. For about £20 you could get another Wii or an old Nintendo DS (the dual screen handheld).
Alternatively, you have a Windows PC? There are loads of cheap games available on those, all you'd need is a controller (as little hands would struggle with keyboard controls).
Thanks OP went for the super retro trio. Will be great fun hopefully. Now to hunt down some games
Cheers

I had exactly the same experience. Bought a product with 5* reviews yet when I received it it was complete garbage. I posted reviews which were blocked or deleted! I questioned them direct about their review blocking but didn't get a reply. I only got a refund after I found a mobile number the manager had included in one of his emails.

Personally I can only recommend Funstock, their service I have found to be very good and when I had a problem with the quality of a jumper I returned it and got a full refund
i like the idea of the trio console, but then i'm just starting to mess around with my raspberry pi zero and retropie to set up a multi-console emulation machine, so it'll be a bit cheaper
So glad I setup all the emulators and roms on my gaming pc otherwise I'd be buying the retron5, and I really don't have the space for it and for getting all my cartridges out of storage.

Video review of it by blunty.

Now if this thing had usb support or an internal hdd slot where you could play downloaded roms too. Then I'd be in trouble.

If the retron5 is too much for people, the Retro trio's a great one too: NES,SNES and Genesis games, plus the super game boy adapter will work, so you can get 4 consoles running off it. Main loss is the lack of upscaling and audio/video enhancements. But at £40 that's a good deal.

You could get a more modern console for similar prices to those listed here, they have the advantage of warranty if bought from Game or CEX, the best bit is having wireless controllers. Couple the fact that you can download a lot of free demo and retro games and it will keep them entertained (and of course you can buy new games or second hand ones very cheap too!)
My 4 year old plays Plants Vs Zombies on the PS3 and is currently playing Skylanders...
A retro console would probably not be appreciated by anyone under 21 now! (although saying that - have you seen Minecraft or Terraria?)
Xbox 360 with wireless controller £45 from CEX
Xbox 360 from Game (unknown accessories) £31.99

The PS3 second hand is a little more expensive (£70!), however the Wii can be had for around £25 - it'll also play gamecube games and use those accessories out of the box...
You could purchase the retro games...

Hi yep sure can and seem to run them well ones ive tried you just need to alter the .rom to .isp
Got the retro trio and it's good kit but seems to be an issue with TVs and vertical lines which mine has so rummaging around the interweb for solutions! Could become a tad annoying
Has anyone tried the Megadrive? Tempted at £19.99 but seems to have mixed reviews regarding sound and emulation.
