killer price for 40 inch

Fok sake that's rubbish tv though...

It wont be hitachi... Argos have the rite to use the brand name

Finlux 40in smart TV for289 was a better deal from eBay

Nah give a miss.

Not bad but why on earth has it got NICAM sound mentioned as a feature? Unless you've got a TARDIS it'll never be used.

NICAM! I remember about 10-15 years ago that was the killer feature on TVs.

Are these cheap TV's actually worth the money especially for a main set? Is not really just false economy getting something like this.

They're ok as a budget set, obviously there's vastly superior TVs but that means more money. They're worth it if you can put up with the flaws of a budget TV.

50 MHz
nicam sound
Lmao useless but gl if you buy

Add 50 quid to that and you could get a panasonic 42x60 plasma it'll make this look like a crt.

Oh pants i just bought it for £259 lol
Emerdale is the same on this as opposed to my 2k tv so just buy it and enjoy a 40" for £250...

Well res is 1920 x 1080 so if you have one of the old x 768 models it could be considered an ok upgrade for a price which the x768 res tellys seem to go for.

However, In many houses Tv's are used as often as beds. They are used for telly, Iplayer, pc etc and you don't scrimp on your bed so shouldn't really scrimp on Tv's.

Know very little about this tv and don't even know whether it does what it says on the tin.

.

I half considered getting one to upgrade the one in my sons room but will wait for the January sales and get him a decent Samsung.

If you are considering getting one of these but have a 'gaming' desktop then don't. Its pointless having a great gpu if you have a low res telly.

Forgot to mention, its still a hot deal for what it is so have voted hot

can't comment on this set but i went for a finlux 42" 3dtv for £299, I've compared the picture quality and 3d effect with other family members lg, Samsung and Sony TVs that cost more than double and mine is as good if not superior to them. And the lg had to be replaced after 6months so faults can happen no matter how much you pay. BTW don't bother paying more for 3d TVs IMO, once tried out you won't use it lol

Hz.

I brought one of these for the bedroom last time they were on sale, i was not expecting much but i have to say i was pleasantly surprised, picture quality was better then i expected and its quite a nice looking tv on the wall.

So for the price its great.... but don't expect to get the same quality you would get on a tv 3 times the price....

Picked this up yesterday from Argos for £250, but haven't opened the box yet. Price seems very good for a 40" full hd LED tv!

I agree. For what it is its a great price.
You will have to fork out a bit extra for a hd splitter so that you get more HDMI sockets though because this only has two

Good price for this time of the year.
But if you can wait till after new year TV's will be on further reductions.

That may actually be a good thing. Get a nice Blu-Ray player, and you have all the smart you could want, or if you are on a budget, go for the now TV box with Plex. The smart part will be out of date in 3 years, but at least you can update that without getting a new TV.

For a main set no bedrooms imo perfect. Although I have never bought a cheap set television (over 32 inch) the ones below that crap sound quality

Not particularly important with Now TV kicking about.

The perfect monitor for 40+s denying they need glasses while being aware of the symptoms of presbyopia,

So, good for those avoiding gaming, detailed graphic work, or car chase & explosion films seeking detail & speed.

Offering 4 x the screen real estate of 19/21 inch monitors at this price has to be a winner!

Really? I assume you mean that Hitachi provide certain TVs with tiny spec differences and so a different product code (which is the game many retailers play with white goods). I'm sure Hitachi has no rights to the Hitachi brand in the UK though.

I got the Finlux and I would gladly pay £30 less for this T.B.H.

PS: The Technika (37") set we bought has been the best cheap telly.

I have also bought Bravia's and a £850 Phillips and the Technika holds it's own (on price)

Funny how nobody using this site ever admits to owning a TV costing less than £1000 unless its for a spare room/kitchen/bathroom/shed. ;-)

50hz cold

Near Instantaneous Compounded Audio Multiplex, knew that would come useful, some time.

They don't make TVs any more, they let other suppliers use the name but they still own the brand. It's a shame, but like other Japanese manufacturers, they were under pressure to change. Enjoy the likes of Sony, Sharp and Panasonic while they last.

Yeah you really got to look a the labelling on the back take Toshiba for instance pretty much anyhing under 32"" is a Vestel made in Turkey,Sharp,Jvc and Phillips are other makers that also allow their name to be used.

Bought the 32" LED Hitachi from Argos as a bedroom TV when they were last on sale @ £169.99 (plus staff discount and a £10 voucher so £142.99) and have to say it's a surprisingly excellent picture- even better than the freeview picture on both my 40" Samsung and comparable to the 42" LG Smart TV

Dont believe everything that you read as for the money it looks a decent buy and i would have a look if i was in the market for a new TV
