Was looking around for hard drives and came across this. I'm unsure if it's a pricing error as it should go for around £530~600 according to Google Shopping pages.

I done some further research on it:

The official product page: g-technology.com/uk/…olt

A review from AnandTech: anandtech.com/sho…iew

This appears to be a single drive unit according to the review (I'm confident that the review matches this product).

I'm currently unable to discover what hard drive is inside the unit. Unfortunately the AnandTech review doesn't mention, though a photo shows it is a HGST, which according to wikipedia:

GST, Inc. (formerly Hitachi Global Storage Technologies) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Western Digital that sells hard disk drives, solid-state drives, and external storage products and services.

EDIT1: I just found the 10TB version of this product on the Maplins site, and that goes for £1585.76 ... so I guess it's most likely an error. Worth a punt maybe and hope they'll honor it?

EDIT2: Looks like some of their products are riddled with pricing errors. 20TB RAID version of the product is £652.54

EDIT3: Expiring the deal now as people are reporting that if you try to go to checkout it empties your basket.

EDIT4: (11:23am) 4TB version is still available £76.50 on Maplins according to comment, which is also most likely a pricing error. I know the 20TB version is also working as I've tried to checkout, but not ordered.

Wow, great price. Heat added. Ordering now.

"Apple users are the main target market for G-Technology. Therefore, the internal hard drive comes pre-formatted in HFS" so you'll need to reformat this if you're a Windows user. Looks like a good deal

Ordered. Fingers crossed.

To the dude who wants to buy 15 of them and stick them on eBay, please don't.

Formerly Hitachi? I have two 4tb Hitachi drives, very good drives never had a problem

Me too, great deal. 8TB technically more GB to the pound but I couldn't justify that much storage really. I know it's total overkill, but is there any obvious reason this wouldn't work as external storage on an Xbox One? I could sell the current 3TB and nearly break even with a bit of luck...

It seems like they removed all the "incorrectly priced" items off the site now. Even the 20TB one is not there anymore.

Hmm, can see this getting cancelled, seems like getting a miss price honoured on a HDD is near impossible, with recent price hiking anyone would think they make them out of solid gold!

Anyone know why this drives normally carry such a high price? Are they especially fast or more reliable than other drives, or is it all to do with the G Technology? As I don't have any Apple products I'd only be connecting over USB so I wouldn't get whatever it is supposed to do...

Yes vanishes from basket when try to check out !

just received my cancellation on the 4tb one!!!

Me too, think they will all be cancelled. Will be complaining and would advise others to too. I don't mind if they don't take the payment but I think it is a bloody cheek to take payment then cancel and stick you with a 5-7 day waiting time to get it back.

Never used maplins much in the past as I found them overpriced and this just gives me even less reason to use them in future, rubbish company....

I paid by Paypal and still no sign of my refund. Should be pretty much instant through Paypal shouldn't it?

My bank has nothing to do with it though - I paid using my Paypal balance.

I've had plenty of Paypal refunds before and they always show up straight away.
