Looks like an interesting drink, never tried it myself but I might do at this price.

  • The blackcurrant infusion is obtained by macerating blackcurrants in alcohol (30 % Vol.).
  • Blackcurrant is a particularly acid fruit and the only way to neutralise this acidity is by adding sugar.
  • After adding sugar, the blackcurrant infusion becomes a Cream.

"crème de casis" is a regular in many a cocktail although not seen this brand before

my wife has this to make Prosecco sweeter

Thank you, this is my favourite Creme De Cassis. I think it is the best one on the market. Perferct for Kir Royale prosecco cocktails!

I still have a 50cl bottle from last Xmas period from Aldi, struggling to remember the price, thought it was about £6.99 though, maybe worth looking in case they have it again this year. I didn't open this one, the second bottle I bought as there is only me in my household likes it, and the sugar content is crazy. Might open it when I am feeling a bit more reckless ;-)

I prefer it in Cava as that's a good bit drier than most Prosecco, so ends up a little less over-sweet, plus it's often cheaper and the end result is still very indulgent :-)

A quick search finds same price or cheaper Creme de Cassis all over... De Kuyper @ morrisons for £9.84; Tesco finest for just £9; this sme brand Gabriel Boudier for £10 in Sainsbury's; Bols for £10 at Asda; cheapest of all is Vedrenne for £8.99 at Waitrose
