So I was looking at insuring my iphone4 but OMG its expensive.

In short...

O2: £180 + £50 Excess
Insure&Go: £43 + £25 Excess

...Insure&Go offers an incredible insurance deal for a great price! Where mobile providers are charging an arm and a leg to insure your phone, and other popular insurance company's are just undercutting them. Insure and go are offering a great price.

AND...If you go with the "Black" Insurance @ £68.17 it will cover ANY gadget you have...up to the value of £1000 with NO Excess! and covers everything.
-----------------
In depth...

Top insurance (for Iphone,Platinum) Covers EVERYTHING @ 43.53 with 25 Excess.

Seems very reasonable and yes the terms and conditions will probably get you commenting with it doesn't cover for X, Y & Z HOWEVER no companies will cover for those things either!

I have insured with this and am VERY happy! I went for the £43.53 Insurance covers everything, There is a "Black" cover provided however there's really no point (for the Iphone4 16GB) as it covers for the price of the phone! but the black covers up to £1000 with NO EXCESS!
-----------------
Few examples.

*With Loss Protection: (Annual) - Iphone 4 16gb*

Protectyourbubble: £76.89 + £50 Excess

o2: £180 + £75 Excess

**Insure&Go***: £43.53 + £25 Excess OR £68.17 with NO excess

And not forgetting for the Accidental cover only is £17.66!

***If you have any questions ask ill do my best to answer but i hope you appreciate this as much as i did!

- I have insured and confirmed on the phone that the platinum insurance is fine!!!

Yes.
You have to input the item details, serial number etc....

if you got the iphone 4 32gb, is the Black cover the only one you can buy?

Appears so, Black has zero excess though.

Looks Good

Good price, shame it doesn't cover water damage.

Does that say that in the T & C's? If not, surely it could be classed as accidental damage or breakdown.

you do know most Iphones have a year and half warrenty? So first couple of levels are useless?

Unless its for loss or theft or water damage most insurance for phones are useless!

check the reviews out for the company... real bad. i had to claim through my banks mobile insurance and they do everything to try not pay out and this insure and go look worse in my opinion

What's the difference between accidental damage and breakdown? Surely if you opt for the bronze package and your phone gives up you can just say you accidently dropped it over the edge of a multi-storey car park?

I used Insure&go for travel insurance on my last holiday - they gave best value for money then

Surely you only need the Silver cover ? If it breakdowns or you lose it (how do you know if its lost or has been stolen lol) Just say it been Stolen !!

Be really unlucky if you lost your phone down the toilet or in a lake or other large body of water.

In my limited experience - 1 claim in 6 years - I and G are not that good at paying out. Wanted reams and reams of documentation and in the end refused to pay out for what we considered to be a very reasonable and valid claim. Binned them after this.

It must be hard on iPhone owners, I have to say. Carrying something in your pocket worth £569! Voted hot because on something like that you could not go without insurance.

Cost a fortune for theft and loss insurance from these people which is the most likley thing to happen to it. Insurance for your phone is a waste of money, if you have home insurance you will already be covered.

Also for Iphone 4 this whole deal is WRONG, the £17 insurance is only for Phones worth £250 or less, Iphone 4 is worth £500-£600. If You have 32GB then only the Black Insurance will cover it as they are £599-£600+.

I'm paying Orange £6 a month for 'Orange care' for my HTC Desire HD at the mo so this looks worth looking into... thanks.

The amounts above, is it the one off payment or monthly.
It may sound like a silly question

Technically that's insurance fraud (although no doubt loads of people do it). Difficult bit would be making up a story that they'd accept as theft rather than loss...

Why not get a bank account that has phone insurance, breakdown cover, travel insurance etc all included for a small fee. Cold from me as I can protect my goods for less.

these look like good deals, I have phone insurance for my HTC Desire with my bank account, yes it costs £12.50 per month but I get homestart breakdown cover on my car as well as an extra years warranty on upto 6 household appliances bought with my debit card and loads of other stuff like unauthorised calls if my phone is stolen etc. Thats with Natwest and both phones are covered if you have a joint account. Im sure most banks offer a similar service and is a good alternative if you are worried about your expensive iphone.

This is some spiel from their site:

Advantage Gold mobile phone insurance looks after your mobile, wherever you are in the world. It covers your registered phone against loss, theft, damage, breakdown and unauthorised calls.

You can even register an iPhone, BlackBerry or PDA. They’re all included up to a maximum original retail value of £1000 for each phone.
Mobile phone insurance cover

* Loss, theft and accidental damage – including water, liquid and malicious damage
* Breakdown cover – if your phone develops an electrical or mechanical fault
* Up to £1000 replacement value – if your mobile is lost or stolen, or can’t be repaired. If your phone is worth more than £1000, you’ll only be covered up to £1000
* Unauthorised calls cover – up to £1,500 for monthly contracts and £100 for pay as you go customers
* Worldwide protection – wherever you are in the world, you’re covered. Repair or replacement will be arranged upon return to the UK
* Accessories up to £200 per claim – that were lost, stolen or damaged at the same time as your phone

reason? I've lost my iphone 3gs, had cover with lloyds group
couldn't get proof of usage of the phone on the network from tmobile as they don't do them
claim rejected for that reason
just read many bad reviews! Paid them £350 over 3years
never again!

So

I'm so American

sorry I've only ever seen americans start a sentence with 'So...

an iphone 4 to replace would be higher 'Black' Insurance.

remember when you get your phone type in ^#06# on the dialer and it will tell you your IMEI reference, all phone companies hold records of Mobile phone numbers used with a particular IMEI (handset) so in theory if your phone is lost or stolen, and who ever finds it / steals it puts a new sim card into it, in the uk, this will register on the network.

the major stumbling block / problem is data protection..

A lot of incitement to fraud in this thread! That simply puts up everyone's insurance (as if you care) but insurers may well choose to make an example of you. BEWARE!

fantastic

For loss or theft, you will have to get a police report, and probably within 48 hours of the loss.

Be VERY careful to read the T&C's so you don't fall foul of the simple rules.

I lost my phone in the snow whilst trying to push my car (don't ask) - once I got home I reported (once I'd realised I'd lost it) it to the insurance company in time on the phone, but as there was so much snow I couldn't get to a police station, so by the time I did, they refused my claim as I hadn't reported it within 48 hours (even though I physically could not do it).

It does say "Including IPHONE 4".
As you can see if you look at my OP My examples are comparing the Platinum Plan that WOULD cover the Iphone!

The £17.66 will be great as you state for handsets worth £250 or under.

Especailly, when the phone itself isn't that good either!!! Worst phone I've owned, but that's not the point.
I have used I&G for travel before, and cover and price has been good, however, I've never had to claim, so can't comment. As for the post RE saying it was stolen, not lost, if you say it's been nicked, you normally have to report it stolen to the police for an incident number etc, and that could have other knock on effects, such as falsley increasing crime stats (if only very minutely), fraud, lying to the police etc

Would this cover an ipad... or is it just mobile phones?

i am on an iphone 4 contract and have insurance with phones for you and its £12 a month which covers your phone in every single way and if you claim before in your first 6 months the excess money is £50 if you claim after 6 months your excess money is £10. This is one of the cheapest deals around.

These guys get absolutely shocking reviews on review centre, only 16% of 225 users would recommend their travel insurance.
reviewcentre.com/rev…tml

Wouldnt even consider.

When i insured the girlfriends iphone 4 we went to review centre and picked one of the better rated ones which was insurance2go.co.uk
Weve made a sucessfull claim and i would highly recommend them. Full cover for £64.99 per year.

Remember when buying insurance its not all about saving money, quality of service comes first. This company will only give you peace of mind untill you need to make a claim

I have the old iphone 3G purchased from eBay 2 years ago. Can I insure it with this company or does this insurance apply to new phones only.

Would be good for whenever NGP comes out. Hot deal.

The way I see it, if you look after your stuff there is no point getting most types of insurance. They are a business making a profit at the end of the day, so over a lifetime most people who insure will spend more out on insurance than they will get back otherwise the insurance companies would not make a profit. This is even more true if you look after your stuff, as you just end up subsidising all those who are not so careful.

By the way, please don't blame me if you decide to cancel your insurance and then drop your phone down the toilet one day

Great deal! Hot from me!
