Looks like a good deal. Heat & rep for you...

"Usually dispatched within 1 to 2 months". Eh?

Nice price Crossbow heat given. 4850s are good cards. If you don't want to wait ( and it is difficult to know with Amazon what they really mean by dispatch within one or two months - sometime or never) as you say there seems to be a Palit 4850 on "today only" at Scan for £112.69 which doesn't seem bad if you are eligible for Scan's free delivery.

Thanks Gleninnes :), already mentioned in the main post under 'Alternatives'. There's an Asus one as well for £112 @ eBuyer.

This is a really good 4850 - I did quite a bit of reasearch before buying one and forked out a bit more for it. The cooler isn't quite as large as the dark cover actually suggests but it still seems to run quieter and cooler than a stock 4850, I have one of these as well and the fan is noticeably noisier.

John

The Asus alternative has gone up to £120 now

Out of stock, cold im afraid.

Out of stock, cold im afraid.

Hot, because if you do order a) it's very likely to come much sooner than the 1 or 2 months they suggest, and b) that price is guaranteed once you order.

Chris

Sorry, its still cold, if you cant buy it, it cant be hot.

Any good deals for a PCI-E graphics card with PASSIVE cooler and twin outputs?

Sorry, its still cold, if you cant buy it, it cant be hot.

U can buy it?

4850s were going for under £100 last year - just shows you how the downturn is actually pushing UP some prices as opposed to bringing them down.

U can buy it?

You can buy it, but they cant deliver it at the moment.

Shame it has expired, as it a good price, for a good card. I have one (not this model) and it cost me about £125 a few months back. Shame I seem to be suffering form "stuttering" graphics in a few game on my machine though. What driver is everyone using for these cards?

This should not be expired...its still available on the amazon site with a 1 - 2 month delivery estimate.

you will probably be able to find one cheaper in 2 months or a better card for the same money!

ordered one on Saturday 8 feb for £108, free del.
got an email yesterday saying it was despatched

Yes - 4850 were cheaper Q3 last year at around £90 istr, so were Intel Q6600 G0stepping, now the av prices are :

ATI Radeon 4850 (standard) - £120, up from £90
Intel Q6600 Core2duo quad core -£150, up from £110

So it is unlikely to get cheaper in a couple of months time, you'll have to wait till the £ appreciates against the usd, wait or it to become obselete or get lucky when a retailer goes bust and there is a fire sale.

So if you can justify and can afford it, now is time to buy. The same thing is going to happen with everything else ....

btw this deal is not expired ....

All to do with the exchange rate. Thankfully the pound has been climbing in the last few days, lets hope it continues

Cold because if it's 2 months from delivery the price would have naturally depreciated by then, so not such a good deal. I'm sorry
