Oh, that's a pretty cool dea-

Credit must be used SAME DAY.

And now I remember why I hate GAME. Cold from me.

Cold game. Are greedy idiots

This.. Also the trade in prices always almost half during these events.. Very fishy.

might have been okay if you didn't have to spend straight away. will just price match cex when I finish my current games.

They did this a few months back but you didn't have to use it same day and the prices weren't too bad - lower than cex but not half so it worked out pretty good. Same day is pretty rubbish unless there's something you are particularly interested in. It's not likely to be any cheaper though than selling your games privately (or even cex cash) and buying online.

Sadly, GAME's trade-in prices are fairly awful, until you get them to price-match competitors... and I'd bet that they're not going to allow this to be used in conjunction with a price-match.

just trying to drum up some quick return business in this quiet end of summer period. there's been naff all out in forever though cus of the time of year. which brings this comment full circle lol.

if they did double what cex offer now that would be a deal lol...but would also destroy their margins

defaintly not for example game offer me £7 for dying light the following cex £21 reason I hate game

Illusionary

I'm pretty sure it doesn't apply if you ask them to price match, but normally CEX beat them by a fair bit ie no mans sky, they offered me £25 compared to the £36 at CEX

Think the prices have already gone down....8 pounds for Just Cause, 12 for Uncharted 4 etc? Some of the slightly more obscure ones might be worth doing? E.g Chibi Robo was £5 on here recently and u could get £12 for it with the double trade ( if they don't reduce it overnight? ) haha.

There's normally some value to be found here depending on what you have. With the right games you can build up a decent amount of credit, and in the past I have done just that. However, the killer for this deal is having to spend it the same day. The whole point with deals like this is waiting to spend the credit until a good deal comes along. If you have to spend it the same day you're highly unlikely to get decent value from what you're trading in. As such, this has to be cold.

This was a good deal months ago on certain games ie 3d mario world was £40,zelda ocarina 3ds £32 etc I traded in a fair few but you didnt have to use credit same day in fact still got some and with prices I read quoted above this is crap.

Game definitely not good. When they price match they said that they can't trade in for more than they sell. An example of this was PS3 Dishonored GOTY. Game £1, CEX £5 with the Game selling price being £5. The guy said "you'll get a fiver". I thought it was a bit off but I agreed as at least they matched the CEX price.

Checked the receipt after trade in, Game had given me £4.99!!! They're so sneaky they have to make a profit even if it's just one penny, just to make the point.

Twice in the last year they've offered much lower than advertised prices for a console, totally wasting my time on both occasions.

The company went into administration not that long ago and still the same disrespectful customer service.

Thanks, OP. I was planning on trading in 15 old games to either Cex or Game then paying the difference towards a new 3ds in the next week or so but because of this deal I'll be able to get £142 from game instead of the £95 that Cex would have given me. Game giving me £10 for WWE 2k15 is a personal highlight

Could get something that doesn't change in price much like Steam credit?

Can we check trade in prices online?

LOL forget it

Deus Ex Mankind Divided - £14

CEX give £35

Cold. What a joke

Yes they can be checked online.

I still don't understand how this company is still around. They were hyping this deal up for days on the Facebook page and on Twitter. Better yet, the comments on those posts are near enough 60 - 70% negative. Even when I worked there, we were just about meeting weekly targets.

Still had a check on the trade in, it's worth it on a few games, but they have definitely dropped the trade in for loads of new releases. CeX give more than double on most and charge nearly half as much.

every time this happens they halve the prices first. Time and time again they do this. I'm sure people think the same but i'm waiting for game to go bust.....again. Twitter is alive with comments aimed at game stating they have lowered prices within one day.

Just checked how much an xbox one and kinect would get if hardware was included out of curiosity. Lets just say pictures speak a thousand words.....https://s22.postimg.org/r06c9xyep/Screen_Shot_2016_08_28_at_21_48_04.png

They tend not to sell games at perfectly round prices. so dishonored for example would not of been £5 it would've been £4.99. Though most would round that up to say "a fiver"

As for the whole lower than advertised price on consoles, standard practice for any retailer buying in goods to advertise their highest price, they're often t&cs in order to get the price, game's is simply based on condition, so if they're not offering you the highest price it'll be due to the poor condition of the items you provided. amazing that people will moan if poor quality of items are sold for higher prices, yet refuse to accept it when their poorly looked after things are refused or offered less for them.

people always say stuff like 'The company went into administration not that long ago and still the same disrespectful customer service.' going into administration was nothing to do with "disrespectful customer service" it was due to the stupid kind of things customers unrealistically expect but game tried to offer like offering returns on games just cause you don't like it. or returning a pc game cause your system can't run it, taking a loss on digital credit cause someone changed their mind.

they're not a charity, they're a business, simple as that. do you know why they offer price matching ? because 90% of the millions who trade in each month don't do it & are happy with game's normal prices. if you're smart enough to want a little more, then they do it.

Finally.. All I see is entitlement on this thread. Also, CEX are a sole trade business. They can do what they like. Not so long ago they were asking £28 for a pre-owned Minecraft on Xbox 360. It happens. The fact Game offer to beat their trade price in the first place should be enough.

thanks op, just found a game to trade in aswell. ta

Depends on the branch, mine price matches and beats by a pound regardless of their selling price (traded in the same game recently for £6 credit coincidently no problem).

Can't you use Games trade in price promise and double the amount ???

Almost certainly not - these things are always not to be used in conjunction with any other promotion.

GAME is a terrible company and I don't understand how they are still around! You would've thought that since that very close shave a few years back they would be trying to get as many customers as possible!

As usual trade in prices lowered drastically again. Every time a trade in offer is introduced, prices are chopped overnight. Now I remember why I stopped working for them. Pretty near sucked all of the fun out of gaming for me whilst I was there. They are entitled to offer whatever they want for trade ins, take it or leave it, I get that. Its the attitude that the customers are dumb and won't notice, and the superiority complex towards other retailers that will ultimately send this company down the toilet. The only reason I'm glad they haven't gone under yet is because I feel for those who would be out of a job.

Is it double the price you actually see right now? Or have they already doubled it?

Open the app just double what trade-in says.
Just been In with an absolute load of rubbish and got just under £200.
Bought steam credit, Nintendo credit and Xbox credit.
You can't buy gift cards or put the money on your game wallet.

Shouldn't be -cold actually a decent deal to shift stuff. Plus if you check cex prices just ask them to price match and get an extra £1 per game. I had 3 that where better priced at cex so gained another £3.
They put the 3 games they matched at cex on a gift card as well so can use that whenever.

Nah not a chance and I wouldn't have expected them to as I got well more than I wanted.

Thanks for posing this. Traded in Super Mario 3D world for £32 today and going to buy it back when it comes out in classics for £16. Sorted!
