People are paying £60 for Game of Thrones Monopoly on Amazon. But it looks like a USA import.

There seems to be a new edition coming out on 4th September at £29.99. At half the price, no brainer!

You know nothing Jon Snow X) Heat added

I'm torn here. Just because the 2nd hand market has overinflated the price doesn't change the fact that RRP is £30. On the other hand it's Game of Thrones Monopoly...

So heat added.

The 4 corner squares have ruined it for me! Free Parking!

Started listening to 1st Game of Thrones audiobook and found it tedious. Roy Dotrice is abysmal, thats true (one of the worst narrators Ive ever listened to) but the story itself puzzles me how anyone could find it good. Gave up

Thanks OP!

He made the audiobook series amazing. Maybe if you're used the voices of the characters in the show it seems odd, but he was very much praised for them audiobooks, and the one that wasn't recorded by him they got him to redo because the fans wanted it. "He earned a place in the Guinness World Records in 2004 for the highest number of character voices by a single actor for the first book in the series, A Game of Thrones (in which he voices a total of 224 characters)".

I'd personally recommend anyone too lazy to read the books (like me) to listen to the audio ones as they are great, and possibly better than just reading because of his performance. (despite his daenerys changing voices in later books)

May I suggest that rather than yet another re-skinned Monopoly, anyone who's looking for a tabletop gaming experience set in George R.R.'s dangerous little world checks out instead "Game of Thrones The Board Game: Second Edition" by Fantasy Flight Games. Much like Monopoly, it will take a whole afternoon, and may end with you not on speaking terms with your friends. Unlike Monopoly though, it will be a game rich with choices, strategy, tactics, negotiation, alliances, betrayal, politics and battles. And it'll feel like Game of Thrones. Not the same old Monopoly, but with Tyrion.

...or if you want something less... daunting... A Game of Thrones Card Game: Second Edition (also FFG) is currently in pre-order, and that's well worth a look, with a much shorter play time.

Remember kids, friends don't let friends play Monopoly!

The Game of Thrones board game is so much better than some reskinned monopoly.

No offence, but I've probably read ten times the books you have - thats not a dig, just likely fact.
Martin was hugely influenced by Jack Vance, who was weird and wonderful (read 80% of what he's done. Even difficult to find) so I thought this would be similar. It ain't

No story. Just my point of view.
Londoners DO have a peculiar problem with other people having a different view to their own, you are correct in that

Personally GoT Monopoly doesn't sound right IMO. Better wait for the Risk game to be released in the UK October this year (image below of the US box - but it's pretty much the same as the UK release):

We'll have to agree to disagree, mate. (_;) Each to their own, of course. If you enjoyed his telling thats all that counts.
To me, he's an absolute drone. Try Nick Boulton's reading stuff like "Warrior of Rome" or Jonathon Keeble to show a massive difference in quality. Or the Americans like the now sadly deceased Frank Muller, or the excellent Ron McLarty's reading of Salem's Lot or his very humour-filled reading of Bill Bryson's A Walk In The Woods to show the other end of the spectrum from Ditrice's plodding boring voice

How come the only way to find this deal on Amazon is to click the link on this, if you go onto Amazon the standard way this only exists as the USA edition for £60, also all other sites are stating that release is 13/11/15 and not 4/9/15 as in this advert, think this may be a scam!!

Spook - about 6 hours ago I was in Port Ballintroy!
Have some heat!

Having listened to much of the first book on Audiobook format, read by Roy, I found myself preferring to read the books myself (already read them once already, thought I'd give the audiobooks a go for my second run through), as he was a good reader and I didn't mind his interpretation of each character, but maybe it was too slow form my liking. I much prefer George R.R Martin's voice, when hearing him read an excerpt from Victarion from the next book to be release (The Winds of Winter?). He seems to keep my attention on the story and every word he said, whereas I found my mind struggling to cope to imagine the scene as much with Roy's reading of it. (Not Saying I don't like his reading, just I'd rather read the books myself I guess, mainly cause it's read rather slowly for my liking)

Deary deary me. All that effort and that's the best you can do ?
Ain't wrong with my original estimate that I've read a LOT more books than you ? X)
Going by that effort, you've likely not got past 10 !

Yes. It's true that the voices you give to the characters in your own head are always going to be better for yourself. But Dotrice was just.....bloody awful. I'll read the books instead - I gather there was someone called "John Lee" read them too. I'll see if I can find those

I think John Lee was the guy that I heard was very dull. For a while one of the books (maybe 4) didn't have a Dotrice version and everyone complained. I can't comment though as I waited and avoided another reader.

"Wtf is free parking?"

Said everyone in Westeros + Essos.

People do get used to the same reader, thats true. George Guidall is another that they wheel out when the regular reader can't do it for some reason or other, knowing he always fills in well and the regulars like his delivery

90% of what I read have words way beyond YOUR capability, chuckles. Words containing 3 syllables - and MORE ! X)

Never really understood why Monopoly is so expensive these days in general...

Someone has made a d.i.y version, its on sale on esty for £7.92, if you cant wait for the official version or are after a crafts project its worth checking out, just beware you need a lot of paper and ink.

I'm surprised you KNOW how to read, having mentioned the fact that you listen to audiobooks. And just googling 'how to listen to audiobooks' doesn't count as reading. Stick to children's books (audiobook form of course), they are more related to your intellect...

Petty name calling is amusing for one or two sallies. Then it's tedious. Needs a very low IQ to persevere. Mine's too high at 125. You're OK though

well aren't you modest, pal? just because you tell people on here you read a few books and your iq is 'too high' doesn't mean it's true. It just makes you an arrogant t.wat, probabily retired or unemployed to have time to post over 8000 comments on a website (probably bragging over how smart you are on every deal). You're just sad, 'sir'... X)

Well seeing as you're going to go down the route of offending audiobooks, I'll chime in with some lame insults of "he's probably too busy with his high intellect doing things to have time for books so he has to listen to audiobooks, whereas you're on benefits/retired/student/(insert derogatory) so have nothing else to do but read" just to feel like I'm joining in
