GAME offering £20 CASH for Red Dead Redemption on PS3 or Xbox 360 Trade-in!

49
Found 18th Jan 2011Made hot 19th Jan 2011
Ok went into Game today and asked to trade in Red Dead Redemption on the xbox 360. Was told that credit = £20 but asked how much cash was...they said it was also £20.

This is VERY unusual and must be some sort of mistake, never the less they let me trade it in for cash. I can upload the receipt if necessary, but it means a profit can be had if bought second hand for £14.99 at certain gaming stores!

Hope this helps some people!

Why would they price match their own company?

Good deal if nationwide

Yes? Game bought them out few years ago. They also own Gameplay.co.uk

PS3 I bought from Game in that deal a few weeks ago had a Gamestation sticker on it, so they even share stock.

I spy an arbitrage opportunity!

They're also offering £30 trade on F1 2010 and £31 for Gran Turismo 5, just FYI.

I saw that in the paper the other day, tempted to trade in my Red Dead which I bought for £14...

Out of interest, where can you get it for £14 preowned?

Where can I buy it for £14 - I have searched etc...

I'm in the market for a copy - will play £20 paypal or COD if in London / south Essex. Seems to fetch a bit more everywhere else.

XB360 by the way!

That last message goes to everyone too! Cheers!

Traded mine in at Argos for £26.00, now they're offering £6.00 X)
I miss playing it though... Wish they'd announce a PC version.

£30 trade in for F1 2010 is brilliant. I assume by this you mean they'll give me a £30 credit note rather than £30 in cash.

Still a good deal nonetheless.

What Game store was this? I can’t see the receipt.

Can the OP post the receipt somewhere where you don't have to give your facebook password away please.

So you can pirate it? I think that is why there will never be one.

because you cant possibly pirate the 360 or ps3 version...

Thanks for the accusation. I bought GTA IV and EFLC on the 360, I then bought them again when they were released on the PC.
Nearly bought them a third time so they could be tied to my Steam account. I will do the same with RDR if possible.

In the case of GTA the graphics and framerate on the PC make the console version an absolute joke, plus there's a huge modding community.
I also replaced Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Grid with secondary purchases for PC.

What a nasty mean-spirited accusatory post from wonkyleg - nice one!

What MBeeching does is his own business. Plus IMO he seems to have paid plenty of dues to Rockstar - he'd be entitled to a free PC copy.

You've also over-looked the huge Modding possiblities PC-Gamers have... which brings much more enjoyment once they have finished the game.

If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all - as the old saying goes!

I'm not buying it, your story I mean, why would you buy these games on the console first when you say they are always better on the PC? Only GTA wasn't released across all formats at the same time.

And GTA4 runs like a dog on the PC. A lazy port because developers don't give a damn about the PC because of torrents. Sorry but I get very defensive against seeing my gaming platform for the past 20 years go to the dogs.

I'd also love for this game to be released on the PC as well and I get annoyed with some people accusing the PC market of being outright pirates when it comes to games, which is far from the truth. All gaming platforms have piracy issues and none of them remain untouched by it.

I originally had the game for the PS3 and I'd put in nearly 50 hours worth of gameplay into it before my second-hand PS3 decide to completely fail on me, which I've never had the funds to fix or replace. For me to finish the game I would have to fork out well over £200, but if there was a PC version I would simply buy a new copy for my PC and happily play through from the start again, with improved graphics, smoother gameplay and a control system that I'm more accustomed to (keyboard and mouse). I haven't traded the game in as I have let my friend's borrow it to give it a go themselves and I do intend to one day purchase a PS3 replacement, but if I ould get RDR right now for PC I wouldn't even hesitate to click on the buy option in Steam.

I built a gaming rig in February, sold most of my 360 games and replaced them where possible.
Only kept my console because of certain exclusives, it has probably been turned on once in the last 6 months.

GTAIV runs amazingly off a Vertex SSD with a 3.8ghz processor and overclocked 5850
It was a badly handled port but I reckon streaming from the hard drive was the performance bottleneck. It is the biggest improvement I have seen on any game using solid state.

I fully agree piracy is a major issue on the PC, but i'll be buying at least a dozen titles this year.

its just pc gamers that pirate? doent happen on 360 or ps3 does it not?lmao . people will pirate and people wont its life and companies make enough

Since when should MBeeching have to answer to wonkyleg?

This is a great deal and would be tempted to do it myself, but I forked out for the Undead Nightmare pack a few months back as a download!

He shouldn't, he should call me a noob and ignore me from now on. That's what I would do, tbh.

edit - and also, I'd like to apologise for the unnecessary tone of my posts, it's none of my business and rude of me. No excuse, but it's a sore issue and sometimes I become an idiot

Just to let you know, at first I went to North Finchley's branch and was told about the deal. So I went home, got the game, and went to work hoping Brent Cross would have the same pricing, they did!

So I presume it is nationwide. Hope this helps!

No problem! If you need any more advice just let me know! If you do go however, keep insisting for them to tell you the cash price, the person was constantly saying "it wont be as much as the credit value" so I really had to pull me weight for the person to check. All the best!

Some PC games can have one time install codes/steam codes with them usually to combat piracy, or at least to make it so you can't trade them in. So as a rule none can be traded in.

No because they only do one. They won't price match AND beat it by 50%. You have to choose one. I usually print off Cex's price and get Gamestation to beat the exchange amount by £1 but this is a better deal for RDR

Also Game did buy Gamestation but they said they will keep running them as separate stores

GAME only offering £20 for store credit today for RDR in my local store today. Cash trade-in value was £13.40.
