Just as the title describes, you walk into GAME with your unwanted games, and they add on 20% to your credit note!

I am going to find this incredibly useful as I have been meaning to trade in a few games, so I have built up quite a bit of unwanted clutter. Nice to see that I will receive 20% more money back.

Expires July 9th.

I went last week and they told me the additional 20% was till Wednesday only (thats Wednesday just gone).

I had some DS games with original box but they said they also required the manuals. Now thats a challenge!

They were pretty useless in game. They dont take PC games anymore and were going to give me £1 for a play and charge kit for the 360, £1!!!! lol

Anyone got any idea how much Game & Gamestation would give for GTA IV and Assassins Creed (both mint condition boxed with manuals etc) both on 360 ??
If its not much then i'll stick 'em on here later

This might be a strange question but I'll ask anyway...

Do they offer any more for games that are still sealed in the cellophane wrap? (as in brand new not even opened) It's just that I've got some games that came as part of a bundle but I already had one or two of them. They games don't save anything like "Not to be sold separately" or anything like that on them.

doubt they would,

they will prob give you trade in value then sell the game on for full price ;-)

They wont accept games that are sealed, if you want to trade them in they will open them in front of you in the shop or ask you to open them (they do in my local store anyway)

Might take my PS3 games in that I am not playing and see what I would get as was going to takem both to CEX where I would get £10 and £14 exchange so may get slightly more in GAME

Not really worth trading in old games unless they're ultra rare which I doubt the person would trade-in to a shop like GAME.

I think that it's worthwhile if you know that you'll never play the game again - it means that you can buy more new games!:-D

hmmm. i have £100 of games i was gonna trade in this w/e at CEX. might have to see how much i'll get at game. don't suppose there is a list anywhere of Game's trade in prices?

where can u get the list of trade in prices

CEX seem to offer a lot more than game. For trade in value they are giving me £7 for sim 2 and £7 for age of empires 3 (both PC).

I think you should call up your local game to check the offer is still on, as there offers only tend to run til wednesdays.

Lmao, people know nothing about how GAME works.

The amount of people i have heard claiming we sell pre-owned games as new. Lol. Tell me, why would we do that if there is more profit to be made on a pre-owned title...??

Also, to the guy asking about gta and assassins creed. I think its like £28 and £3

Great, cheers. Not really worth getting rid of Assasins for that but may go down the GTA route to put towards bad company. No rush at the mo' though as MS have my console for repair so by the time i have it back i'll have my pre order of UT3 anyways.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but how can that be possible?
Say a pre-owned title for sells for £28 and a new title sells for £39.99 - regardless of how much you (GAME) pay for the trade-in, selling it as new would always make more profit

Does no-one ever try Blockbuster for trade-ins?

Seem to me to offer best prices. They are linked to Gamestation, but Gamestation don't appear to be too great on trade-in values, and despite being linked, Blockbuster offer considerably more.

For example, a while back when Sega Superstar Tennis on the Wii was advertised on here for £15 at ASDA, i was trading it in at Blockbuster for £23! Yes, i know that was a discounted game for a select period of time, but still.

Then today, i just traded in Metal Gear Solid IV on PS3 (for a pal) for a value of £30! Again, you can currently buy that cheaper BRAND NEW, at Shopto!

May be worth checking prices people, as rarely do i see people mention it when talking about trade in prices, etc.

One thing to note though, the values i have quoted are STORE CREDIT (can also be put on a Blockbuster gift card), and CASH value WILL BE LESS.

Also, if you get quoted a price you think may be on the low side, perhaps try another store, as today a guy told me in another post that he got quoted £23 store credit for MGS IV, and my local store, within 7miles away or so, was £30 store credit. Haven't experienced this myself, as stores i phone seem to quote same price, as i'd imagine its their system that states it, but he deffo said he was quoted less.

The other day when I went to Gamestation to see how much my old 360 was worth, they quoted me a price but then said they will match any other trade in. So I went across the road to CEX, got them to write down the trade value they would give me, then popped back to Gamestation who promptly matched the value. Worth knowing I think!

Just use eBay. Jiffy bags from ASDA, quick photo and a 7 day auction starting at 0.99 and you'll always get a better price for your game than you do at GAME or Gamestation, even with 20% extra credit.

GAME retail prices are far higher than what you could get most games for at Amazon, Play.com, Shopto etc. so even though this looks good you would still save a lot more by putting them on the bay.

Only rarely will you get a better price on a trade in.

Another GAME employee here! The margin on new titles in incredibly small. For a brand new game sold at 39.99 the company makes around £2-£3 profit. Whereas a game that we would sell pre-owned for £35 we give trade of about £25. Hence £10 profit. Hope that cleared things up a bit

Good deal I reckon anyway. I'm trading in for Guitar Hero Aerosmith tomorrow! Staff discount always helps as well though :P

Yeah, but what user is saying is, if someone brought in a SEALED game and WASN'T made to open it, then your only offering trade-in value, yet could sell it as NEW.

That theory is out the window though, as you ARE made to open game, therefore pointless discussion, lol! :-D

No fair. My local Gamestation won't match CEX quotes, they'll only match GAME and Blockbuster both of whom are owned by Gamestation anyway!

Anyone wanting the best prices in exchange in Hammersmith, Kingston Upon Thames, Croydon and Canterbury really ought to check out X-Electrical as well!

They're willing to give prices on a lot of retro-games that Game or Gamestation won't touch [Dreamcast , Gamecube, NeoGeo, etc]. Additionally their exchange prices have nearly always bettered game, CEX and Gamestation.

Website here: xelectrical.com/

I haven't traded in games to GAME for ages, only because there's actually no point. Might as well keep them for the little amount of money they offer for them, yet they usually sell it double for what they got off you.

And get this, for example, a pre-owned title is £40, you can get it brand new for £45. Yeah I know £5 can make a difference but if it was me, I'd rather buy it brand new since the margin is so little.

And sometimes, the preowned titles especially the older ones are exactly the same price as the equivalent brand new one. :?

When I went to x electrical they actually went on the cex website in front of me and offered me about 20% less than the cex price! Granted their prices are better than cex but did they think I was an idiot? I could see the screen!

They make you open the games so they can see that the cases aren't empty ;-)

I have just traded some Wii games in at gamestation:

Mario and Sonic at the Olympics
PES 2008
Mario Kart
Smarty Pants

I got £82.00 credit for the above, which i put towards a Nintendo DS for my daughter.

I agree that Blockbuster is the best for trade-ins. GAME is an utter joke when it comes to taking in games. Took a couple of games to Blockbuster the other week, was offered £28. Went to GAME to compare, was offered £14!

They are con merchants -spammed the thread

You just have to be choosy with what you trade in at GAME, that's all. Some stuff they will give better prices than anywhere else but on the whole they're lower.

A couple of years back I took a couple of sealed games in. They gave me the selling pre-owned price for them (about £60) and put them in the pre-owned bin still sealed. I walked back down to MVC, where I'd just bought them, and bought another 2 copies in the 2 for £25 deal.

They've always asked me to open them since though as do gamestation. Indies will quite often take sealed games though.

is this nationwide, just wondered is there a list you can download with all the trade in prices on there website

I got £30 for GTA4, can't argue with that as it only cost me £35!

I think you'd 'generally' still get more for your game after eBay fees than by trading in (though those Blockbuster prices seem pretty good). It's not always the case of course. The idea that 'scammers' and eBay go hand in hand is just rubbish, usually put about by people who don't even use it. I've sold and bought loads of games (and other stuff) on eBay and never had a serious problem - certainly never been out of pocket. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but a lot of **** gets written about eBay that simply isn't true.

Ehh?? If they're only going to match the price and you know somewhere is doing a better trade in, why don't you just go to the other place and trade it in there? i.e. why didn't you just trade it at CEX instead of getting them to write it down and then wandering back over to Gamestation only to get exactly the same amount of money? Seems alot of effort for no gain! :?

I'm quite lucky as in Brighton we have Blockbusters, Game and Gamestation all within 150 yards of each other. As I have my bike I can see the RRP of the game I want at all three shops - starting with GAME, GAMESTATION, then BLOCKBUSTER. I then get my trade-in's valued at Blockbusters - which usually gives the highest out of the three.

It's then a case of choosing where to trade them in. Blockbuster usually doesn't have the game you want so take their trade-in prices to Gamestation. They will wince a bit and some staff say they can't do it so just ask another of their staff who will sort it out.

I took Assassin's Creed there about a month ago and got £22 credit for it - about the price they were selling it for

I seem to go less and less to Game these days. No decent offers at all.

The prices of goods at CEX are extortionate. You can always buy a brand new copy of games or DVDs online for the price they sell their second hand versions.
