GAME Trade In Price Checker

28
Found 25th May 2012
Whilst nowhere near as functional as the HMV Re/play app (or even the CEX website), GAME have finally got with the times and now have a trade in checker on their website. I assume the trade in values are the same for Gamestation, but can't guarantee you that.

Involves inputting the Game's barcode and entering basic captcha stuff.

Haven't bothered checking the prices but just thought i'd let you all know that they have a Trade In price checker at last!

You can use gamechecker.co.uk which will compare GAME with HMV, CeX and Amazon to find the highest prices

it works for me although the price is sh** for max payne trade in! I think it doesnt include the 25% extra either

It doesnt include the extra, no.

Whats trade in on MP?

£24 trade, £18 cash

Ah. Twas £30 anyway before the trade in offer, convenient eh

Good Trade in for Max Payne 1 that is.

max is worth 30 quid at cex

Bit of an effort compared to hmv and cex!

Why don't they just do a similar system to cex rather than having to type in the barcode, then one of those ridiculous Captcha things!

It's a start I suppose.

Edit: didn't work for me either, (rayman origins, vita).. Fail!!

Nice !

Worked fine for me, assassins creed Revelations and halo anniversary would give me £18.40 cash and i guess extra 25% would be £23, CEX offer £21 cash and im pretty sure Game will say oh no the 25% doesnt exist when i go in :P.

25% extra is credit only...

I always find HMV is better, and at the moment they are offering at least £2 more than their competitors on trade-ins. Probably worth printing this off if you find HMV is beaten, get £2 or more on top

wow just tried two of my games i have that i also traded in during the extra £10 promotion, taking off the extra £3 back then i would have got £12.40 credit for each of them, now its went to £4 & £8 for each of them. Thats really bad even when you put an extra 25% on them.

Hate my local HMV for trade ins, staff are useless despite being young enough to know about tech. They won't take a print out of CEXs prices as proof because they recon the CEX website has different trade in prices on it compared to instore, despite the website clearly running the way it does to show your stores trade prices and stock quantity. All in all though the staff in the gaming area are terrible, the front of store staff are great though. With there prices, HMV will undoubtably be going the way of the original GAME group soon, unless they change there prices. Grainger and CEX are usually head and shoulders better for trade in prices compared to anywhere else.

Just a heads up, traded my Max Payne (360) in today for £37.50 store credit...

about time, do they still do that price promise by adding £1 extra on games if they are beaten in trade in by other stores?

Like Game the store the price checker is a pile of poo. Especially when you have to enter the Capitcha thing every time and to be greeted with the above message.

CEX are more privvy to price fluctuations from here though. Managed to trade loads of Skylanders sets when they were reduced to £20 from Currys on here - CEX quickly dropped to £18 each where as HMV stayed at £33 for over a fortnight afterwards!

I worked for Game for a few years and yes they have their faults but at a shop level I could not fault them. At our shop at least they really did their level best to help customers

Really depends on the store and the staff.

Manager in my local Game is a crook, staff aren't helpful and don't care.

Walk down to the street to the Gamestation and the staff in there are completely different, every single one of them is very nice.

Tried the trade-in checker and it doesn't seem to find any game's older than one/two years ago, won't find Assassin's Creed 2 or Far Cry 2, but it does find Assassin's Creed Ottoman's Edition...

Annoying thing is you need the game in front of you to get the barcode to check the price.

how stupid is Game to come up with a system like this.... If you're going to invest money into building a database query, at least do it right... I want to search titles, NOT barcodes!

And what if my item doesn't have a barcode... like my Wii MotionPlus sensor?!
