Not sure if this is a national deal or just Wolverhampton (Mander Ctr) but I thought the item in the link was a pretty good price for "£4.99" - not £14.99 as illustrated in the link!

You need to upload it to a image sharing site then put a link in bit of a faf... but wouldn't bother since its confirmed on the site and no need anyway if people don't believe you then thats up to them! (_;)

you might want to edit the post to state £4.99 instead of £14.99

yh i saw it at 4.99 but weirdly its changed now..ill look at stock near me tbh..

Thanks op, nice find. Heat added.

I was fearing it would be something like that. However, as you've also mentioned, DavieDeal thankfully found a better way

Just got a email as i was browsing game earlier getting kill zone. My 4.99 order for the remote has been cancelled!! Apparently its a price glitch. ANNOYED. may try go instore and get it

for those that have a modern tv, they can sync their tv remotes to work with the ps4. it's something it think that has only recently been introduced by sony. works with most models, definitely Samsung and Sony tbs. means you wouldn't need this or any other extra remote.

Nice one, thanks

Having previously worked in a GAME store, none first-party peripherals give me the heebie jeebies, especially the GAMEware stuff. Maybe I'm just a snob though ha, heat for the cheap.

Very nice feature, need to try it out for myself

Thanks

They don't work. I bought one before Xmas.

I saw this at the weekend. Have to say, thought it looked a little naff and it's not bluetooth.

It's disappointing that the PS3 remote isn't compatible - can we at least have a replacement SONY? Take my money!

Good for £4.99 though.

Yeah, my TV (Panasonic - just over 2 years old) can do this. Most of the basic features (play, rewind, pause, skip etc.) can be controlled with the Panasonic remote. However, you still have to turn the PS4 on (and log in) with the PS4 controller.

Dunno why Sony don't bring out a proper dvd remote for the PS4 like the one they had for the PS3...

It's pretty ridiculous that Sony still haven't released an official Blu-ray/media remote control as the PS4 has been out over a year now. The PS3 equivalent was out on the same day as the PS3.

notsram - how did you connect both to be able to use your tv remote ?

Just use your standard TV Remote via HDMI link setting, works a treat.

I did this with PS3 and now with PS4, it is far easier to be honest since the console is often obscured from sight at least partially whereas the TV sensor is always clear. I didn't want to spend out for the official PS3 Bluetooth remote so got used to doing this instead as it was better than any third party option. Now I find it far easier.

Regarding turning the console on, you can do this with the TV remote if the TV supports it, my Samsung does.

Edit: I'll add a little more detail on this as had to take a phone call.

To turn the console on using the remote, you need to keep the console in standby and with my Samsung I press the 'Source' button on the remote rather than just the HDMI one (the HDMI button goes to next HDMI with a device connected but does not power it, the source button lists all possible connections in a list which you then select), in the source list will be an additional item labelled Playstation 4 or something similar, on mine it has a different icon to show it is connected by HDMI Link, this is in addition to the HDMI port it is connected to. If I select this option then it powers on the console from standby.

Thanks for this. I keep my console powered off, as it often goes several days between uses. I'll try the method you mentioned when I get home from work tonight and see if it works with my Panasonic remote

fyi seen this in store. reduced from 9.99 to 4.99

It is crap. I can confirm, just bought one but I will be returning.

To top it off, I just worked out from an old PS3 blog that I can control my ps4 through my onkyo amp:

it seems not many know you can control a PS3 with your Onkyo remote!

Here's how:
1. Ensure in your HDMI SETUP that RIHD over HDMI is ENABLED.
2. Ensure that within the Playstations settings under SYSTEM SETTINGS --> CONTROL OVER HDMI is set to ON.
3. Now on your Onkyo remote (I'm using a 509 amp) press and hold display and whatever your ps3 input is e.g mines on top left button BD/DVD. so I press and hold DISPLAY and BD/DVD buttons for about 3 seconds red led will come on on remote now simply key in the Remote code 32910 this is one of the (ONKYO DVD REMOTE CODES)

MOst basic functions for the bluray/DVD control work
Up, down, left, right, select, play, stop, pause, FF, RR, menu, quite playback, and most importantly.....
YOU CAN POWER ON and OFF the ps4 from your onkyo

So I just got in and checked, there is another way to do it on my TV, press 'Tools' then the first option is 'Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC)', press that, then 'Device List' then choose device and it will turn it on and change to that input.

However, there is a flaw with the PS4 in that once it is on, I still have to turn the controller on before I can use the TV remote to navigate, PS3 did not need this.

I am able to use my remote to turn the PS4 on, and i don't need a controller turned on in order to use the TV remote. However my TV is also Sony. To turn the PS4 on I just press the 'sync' button ( I think it's called - don't have the remote in front of me so not 100% sure), and the functions work. In order to turn the PS4 back off I just press the sync button and then the power button on the remote.

I found why I need to turn my PS4 controller on, it is because I have both my PS3 and PS4 connected to the TV through a HDMI switch to the same port. When I turn on the PS4 with the TV remote it also turns on the PS3 and is controlling that until I turn on the PS4 controller at which point the TV somehow recognises that console as the dominant and the remote switches over. If I unplug the PS3 it works fine. I should test the PS3 connected to a different HDMI port but I am fairly certain my TV only supports sync through the one port anyway so that would then work for PS4 but PS3 would be out of the question using the TV remote (not that it matters, but how it is right now is fine for me anyway).

Ah right, yeah if you are using both of them via a switch through the same HDMI port that sounds very plausible, i'm not sure about the TV only supporting the sync through one HDMI port, as i only have one device synced with the TV remote, as i already have a PS3 remote i haven't bothered syncing that one.
