Are they actually plants or plugs?

This is a good discount off the normal price, three tomato plants and three chilli plants — either Apache or Hot Bhut Jolokia (ghost) chillies, both pretty fiery — for £14.98 plus … Read more

I have a chilli plant which my 8 year old planted from seeds last year, late on in the year. We got a chilli or two out of it that year. Kept the plant indoors over winter. Placed outside during the summer and we've had a decent harvest so far. Will place indoors again once Summers over.

m1keyp1key

The chillies can as i saved a few from last year. Mine were sat on a windowsill during winter but had to remember to move them away at night because of the vents. They are back out in the garden now but not as good as this years one. You can always harvest the seeds to sow next year from chillies.

adamnsu

Any other websites they do similar windowsill plants already ready to use

SirSpanky

Tomatoes and chillies are technically tender perennials (they survive multiple years in climates with no winter) but even if you keep them warm enough they often suffer from lack of daylight in the winter. I've successfully overwintered a chilli before, but wouldn't bother with tomatoes as they're so easy to grow from seed. I'd personally wait until March next year and start from then!

Depends on how green your fingers are, I suppose.

Its not called lucky dip for nothing (skeptical)

konicky

Most of it seems to be out of stock so you'll probably get 9 lots of Carex !

samsimcox

Ordered some tomatoes from gardening direct - waited two months - complained and they dispatched them - were about 2 inches big each - terrible experience for me - my nan had grown much bigger from seeds in that time

Rain_Man

Idealworld / yougarden do 12x9cm lucky dip hardy perrenials (also includes grasses and shrubs) at 19.99 plus £6 postage which I think is capped at yougarden and not at idealworld. Yougarden seem to supply idealworld. Mixed reviews but a lot of poor reviews during first months of lockdown. Personal experience with yougarden has been good. Have posted deal but under moderation.

Mistress.of.Puppets

I bought small ericaceous plants for £1.50-£2 in the past and with the right soil, fertilizer and position in the garden, they quickly beefed up. I think the problem here is the lucky dips you get, may not be suitable for your garden. You can improve drainage and change the soil's pH level but it's not easy to change the amount of sun exposure the plants get. Personally, I'm too much of a control freak to let someone else decide what grows in my garden but if you like surprises and perhaps got a lot of space in your garden then why not!

How do u get free delivery? Says £4.99 for me.

williham

These are hardy so can go outside all year round :)

deleted33953

These type of plants are great if you go away a lot as they hardly need watering. They can easily be left without water for 2 weeks in Summer and longer in Winter. Also you will get free plants of them every year as they produce what are known as pups which you can just pinch of the mother plant and pot on. So a really good starter plant for anyone who is not really into house plants. They can also go outside in Summer as long as you 'harden' them off first.

williham

These plants are much larger 10cm pots compared to 2cm plugs, so depends what you need them for I guess.

Pack of 6 Plants in assorted colours in approx. 9/10.5cm pots. Typical plants as supplied pictured.

Got these last year. The plants are so small that they only really started to look nice once summer had finished. You get a lot for the money you will wish you had paid a bit more for big plants

rogparki

I normally get the small plugs from here ( 170 for £14.99) then put them in those seed tray inserts you get from Wilkos etc -pop them on the windowsill then the greenhouse -Loads of colour come summer and less than 8p each ! .

Agreed - don't spend money, just use a jam jar or similar. Use yeast in water in place of beer - works just as well. Most slug traps are plastic, poorly made and last only a short time.

miss.money.saver

use an empty jar sunk into ground fill it with beer (dregs) they love it..... they crawl in and drown.
