This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

I know it will create debate, but I drive all over Europe and I would always prefer a standalone device as opposed to a smartphone app. I researched both Garmin and TomTom and decided upon this unit for my specific needs. A really decent, reduced price at the moment plus 10% code (PAYDAY10 which ends on Friday), although I think you can do a little better using VERY.co.uk for the 'S' model (£179.99) plus a new customer 20% code (I really didn't want to deal with them), however, currently £214.99 for this specific 'D' model.

Currently £214.00 on Amazon for this D 'digital traffic' model which provides traffic information through DAB+ as opposed to a smartphone connection, although you can do that too with this model. You do not require any DAB+ equipment, as the unit itself and the supplied charging lead provide the necessary connection.

The 'S' model (currently £231.31 on Amazon and £179.99 on VERY) can only be used with a WiFi smartphone connection to receive updated traffic, amongst other 'live' information.

There is also an Alexa model from £214.99 at Amazon, which is also a good deal if you are of that ilk.

These models include 'Lifetime' map/camera/traffic updates through WiFi or wired connection, however we all know that 'life', is often an uncertain path and can end suddenly at an existential cul-de-sac!

Price includes next day delivery too and is easy to return to a local Halfords if it doesn't suit.

If this goes cold, I will still sleep

Just asking garmin map is better than Google's maps or another way around? I can use my data in Europe as well as here,do I really need a sat naw or Google map is enough to guide,

I think you will get positives and negatives for both options and I too can use my data in Europe. However for me and the distances I travel, a standalone unit is a better option, especially with this screen-size and no degradation of smartphone battery. I have used both, I am not partisan and at this price, I am happy

BTW, I travel for pleasure not work, so I may have a different attitude to journeys; it is not the end of the world if I hit some unexpected traffic chaos, or end up with 'unusual' re-routing occasionally. I cannot tell you if this is the 'uber' SatNav, but the reviews are pretty decent, the price is good and for me the screen will be a big improvement over my 5" Navigon.

Each to their own and personal context is everything.....
