Make every ride count with Edge 130 Plus. This compact GPS cycling computer shows how far and how fast you rode. Sync structured workouts right to your device, and pair to an indoor trainer. Edge 130 Plus even helps you gauge your effort during the remainder of a hilly ride by using the ClimbPro feature, which keeps track of the remaining ascent. And because it's GPS, you'll always know where you're headed and how to get back with reliable navigation tools. It even has incident detection and assistance features to send your real-time location to emergency contacts1 should you need help
Features:
It's been this price for a couple of days now and I was kind of undecided as to whether to bother posting since it has been slightly cheaper (£99) at Halfords and Amazon during the last Black Friday but now that the weather is starting to improve, and you're just starting out cycling, and can't quite justify the extra cost of the Edge 530 (also on offer at the minute @ £179.99) or just don't need its extra features then this might be a good alternative. Some lucky sods even managed to grab these for free after a voucher glitch on Amazon at the end of last year.

Features:
- CRISP, CLEAR DISPLAY: See your directions on a 1.8 inch display that is sharp and easy to read in direct sunlight or low-light conditions
- ACCURATE RIDE DATA: Track how far, how fast and how high you've ridden with GPS, GLONASS and Galileo compatibility and built-in altimeter
- SYNC TRAINING PLANS: Get your indoor and outdoor training plans from Garmin Connect or sync seamlessly to your Edge from other apps including TrainingPeaks and TrainerRoad.
- EASY BREADCRUMB NAVIGATION: Seamlessly sync courses to your Edge 130 Plus from Garmin Connect or other platforms such as Strava, Komoot and more. Stay on track with turn prompts plus a simple to follow breadcrumb map. Edge 130 Plus can even direct you back to start.
- CLIMBPRO: Manage your efforts on long climbs with the ClimbPro feature, which shows remaining ascent and grade when you're climbing while following a route or course
- MTB DYNAMICS: Track the epic details of every ride with new mountain biking metrics such as jump count, jump distance and hang time.
- LIVETRACK: Create LiveTrack sessions direct from your Edge and let friends and family follow your real-time location and even view your entire preplanned course.
- CONNECTED FEATURES: Receive texts and alerts right on your Edge, when paired with a compatible smartphone.
- BATTERY LIFE: Power your ride with up to 12 hours of battery life
- CONNECTIVITY: ANT+ / BLE
- BUNDLES: Road bundle includes HRM Dual heart rate transmitter and MTB bundle includes Edge remote, MTB mount, silicone case, speed / cadence sensor

Here are some examples of approximate battery life in different configurations, as described in DC Rainmaker's in depth review:
Garmin gives the following tips to maximise battery life:
I'd link to the Garmin Edge 130 Plus owners manual directly, but HUKD doesn't permit links to the Garmin website. I don't have an Edge 130 Plus myself (I use an Edge 530) so I can't vouch for how accurate these figures are. (edited)
Are you Dave "the 18hrs 300 mile a day cyclist". I have been on 100 milers and battery lasted 10 hrs with autostop and being switched off during cake stops.

Good man, it's a great compact computer for essential information that I use when racing, handier than the 1030.
Not on this one, the map is a breadcrumb style map. If maps are important, the 530 is on offer at Amazon for £179, which is a cracking deal.
However, it might be worth noting that a new version of the 530 maybe (it of course might not be) being released soon, there have been a few rumours. (edited)
Even 10 hours is poor. I get about 5 hours on mine (its about 2 years old) and try to minimise all those things you say. When I mean a day I mean at least 5 hours as otherwise its just half a day. It's poor that DC rainmaker only got 10 or so hours. Plenty of long bike rides you can be out and about for that time. Yes you have cake stops and its not 10 hours in the saddle but having to turn it on and off is poor. It should be around 20 hours battery to be honest. They manage it in the 530. The poor battery life is mentioned on quite a few forums and some have upgraded the battery but it looks tricky. The upgraded battery is only slightly bigger, still fits but nearly 50% longer life. They should have fitted it from the start they are cheap. (edited)
Thanks for the clarification. It wasn't clear (to me) from your original post whether or not you were saying that the advertised maximum battery life (12hrs) was poor, or you were not getting anywhere near the advertised battery life - it seems it was both!
The table I included in the description from DC Rainmakers website is actually values supplied to him from Garmin - not results of his own testing - I'd link directly to the page on the Garmin support website except that HUKD doesn't currently allow links to Garmin. His testing for a 90 and 82 minute ride (with slightly different configurations) concluded that he was on target for 16h and 12h of battery life respectively. Admittedly it would have been better if he'd gone out on a full ride and just kept going until the battery ran out completely rather than making projections from a shorter duration ride (since I guess there is no guarantee that the battery consumption is uniform throughout the entire discharge cycle). The advertised maximum battery life of the Garmin 130 Plus is 12hrs - if someone is managing to get 10hrs then I wouldn't rate that as poor - but, if they're getting 5hrs like you are, then yes that would be very disappointing (especially if you are already taking action to conserve battery usage).
I agree with a lot of what you're saying, but the Edge 130 Plus is currently their entry-level device and expectations should be managed accordingly. Yes, the Edge 530 has better battery life - and although its on offer right now for around £180 it normally retails for £230-£260. (edited)
And it’s very annoying to be on a long ride trying to up your Strava mileage and do PB and it conks out 10miles from home. (edited)
I assume this was supposed to say £80?!
No Sir! £8 indeed, I'll post proof in a sec lol.
Was actually £0, lol (edited)
