Sold my Edge 130 as it didn't offer much over a GPS watch and have been waiting on a price drop for the 530 but as it's such a new device I thought I would be waiting longer than this.
Garmin headunits have taken some flack in the past (deservedly) but they seem to have cracked it this time going by the reviews from DCR | 5kRunner.
No discounts to be had anywhere thanks to Garmin's strict control on pricing for new devices so you may as well buy directly from them. If you are a Vitality customer then you can get 25% off the list price too so this is only costing me £144.99 after the cashback.

Regarding stability, sadly there's been a few issues with the 530 since launch, but a few firmware was pushed to beta last week and seems to have fixed most of the reported issues. My own device has been completely stable, so YMMV anyway.
I'm sorry, but in my experience this just isn't the case at all. While there are a fair number using Wahoos now, my experience of my own club is that the ratio is still 10:1 in favour of Garmin.
There has definitely been a trend towards Wahoo but it's still small. If this series of Garmins doesn't improve then I would expect a bigger shift. Wahoo could drop prices of course
Amazing little unit. Decent metrics. Easy to use.
I bought an after market mountain bike mount for mine and it sits well and out of the way in my handlebars.
I looked at the wahoo. I liked the LED idea, but the 530 managed to beat it for my needs.
I’ve added 3rd party maps to mine for off road use. It’s made a huge difference. And it works perfectly with a chest strap, cadence sensor, speed sensor etc for further metrics.
Not applied yet, got to wait 30 days. I'd be surprised if it doesn't though.
I've gone for it anyway - worth a shot! Thanks!
