Hi. Once again millets are doing a sale. This is the cheapest price for this watch. And yes before ppl say it. Its not the newest model. But considering the price of the 6. And what you're getting for an upgrade to the 6. This price is really good. I still own the forerunner 235 myself.

I was tempted by the 5 plus when Amazon had it at £349.Shame this doesn't have the nice routeable visual maps, those are on the 5X, 5 plus and 6.dcrainmaker.com/product-comparison-calculator?type=watch&ids=69229%2C87894%2C102074

I find this website funny. Its literally the best price for this product and its cold. 😄.

I would like to upgrade my watch. To say the 5 plus vue is to expensive atm. Sadly the £350 is not around atm. I would think about pulling the trigger.
I bought one of these last June when John Lewis where selling them for £209 - hotukdeals.com/dea…690

I'm very happy with it - I'm not really convinced this is a 'deal' as such, I'd probably consider the Forerunner 245 now over the Fenix 5

I think the issue is that the Fenix 5 came out March 2017, 3 years is a long time in the world of smartwatches. £279 is still a lot of money, even if it's the best price at the moment.

Well as I said I'm very happy with the Fenix 5, but I'd quite like to have music when I run without carrying a phone, so if I was buying now, I'd probably go for the 245 Music. The Fenix 5 also has issues with ANT connectivity, which means you may get drop-outs with ANT sensors.

That's just me - in reality there isn't much difference between Fenix and Forerunners for core functionality. If you do multi-sport rather than just running is a consideration as well, in favour of the Fenix 5.

This isn't a knock on the Fenix 5 - rather that the Forerunner 245 seems to be very good for the money, and given similiar pricing, I'd go 245 at this point.

245 really is good, latest sensors and Garmin Coach. If I'm honest it doesn't look as nice as the Fenix, I was a little disappointed when I first put it on, it's lighter and wears small. After a while though I appreciated that as its easier to wear everyday
I've stopped using Music on my watch for the time being. It has a few issues like m3u playlists can't be deleted, but once I found I couldn't use any run alerts during a coach workout I looked for an alternative. I now use an iPhone 5 that is getting upgraded to an SE for music and iSmoothrun for backup run tracking, comprehensive audio cues and so much more.

I wouldn't use the watch for music anyway. Its a nice touch don't get me wrong. But!. I'd much rather bring a phone with me. Just in case I get onto any trouble or someone calls me up in a emergency. Plus it drains the battery alot on the watch.
Hot - great price for this. I also have the 235 and as much as I would like the Fenix 5, I can't justify buying this.
Great price, I recently got the 5 plus for amazon for £349, brilliant watch for the price, upgraded from a fenix 3

Same. I'd love it. Or the Fenix 5 Plus. But I can't justify the cost. I'm currently training for the Brighton Marathon. Had my 235 watch for years. I don't see a reason to upgrade.

See at that price I consider buying it. But not for what it is atm. Great watch tho.

I would certainly wait for the 5 Plus/5X to reduce in price.

For me the 5 has been underwhelming, with its dependance on a smartphone to piggyback features from.
I've looked at the Fenix range myself and as I am mainly into running but as said the 245 is a very good watch. For me the 245 does what I need.
Worth the upgrade over the 235?

It does feel freeing to be watch only, but as you say it's not without issues. Wifi transfer of music is also very power hungry between that and topping it up prior to a run it uses a lot of charge cycles. I like having proper weather apps, bbc sounds and a camera too.
Bargain, very tempted but my Edge 25 does for now for my daily cycling commute. I might consider the Vivoactive 3 when they drop below £100.
Good price, but the music and nfc on the plus are a must for me.

Not for me, it would have to drop to around £200 I think for me to bite. I've had my 235 for a couple of years now and it just works, only thing I would like is running dynamics but that's just a nice to have in my instance.
Thanks. I've had the 235 for a while now and like you say, it just works. No faff, great battery life and does the job.

Running dynamics isn’t that big a feature in my opinion. Cadence is more important & you get that on the 230/235. However the extra first beat metrics are ace: training status/load/focus plus things like Garmin coach. Oh & maps are rather handy!

Yeah I totally agree, I like the idea of dynamics but it's not worth shelling out for IMO. My 235 does everything I need and more but something new and shiny is always tempting. I haven't looked at Garmin Coach but I will give it some eyeballs.

I don't know what Pepper is.
I've owned quite a few smart watches, from Samsung through to Microsoft Band 2 etc...

This is by far and away the best and most accomplished I have owned. I bought it in 2017. There are better smart watches now, but this is still really good. Battery life is excellent.

Garmin Coach is ace but it is depends upon your level of performance. The max distance it can do an adaptive program is HM. And the fastest time is 1:30. If you are quicker/longer distance then it doesn’t apply currently.

For me it was a great way to do a structured program as it tailors the sessions based on your vo2 max/response to prior sessions. I’ve not cracked 1:30 yet but it’s given me the knowledge know you create my own workouts/training plan etc.

Ps I had a 230 for years before I upgraded to a 935, it was a cracking watch. The new 245 is a serious bit of kit now it also does pool swims plus a bucket load of metrics! If I was upgrading from a 235 then it’s probably the one I would go for (and can be had under £200)

I know. Haha. Literally when I put it up it was at like - 10. I couldn't see how. Haha.

This is the hottest item I've put on here. 😄.
Also a happy owner of a 235. But at some point I’ll upgrade to get maps and running dynamics. Haven’t yet checked out 245 features so didn’t realise it might be better than a Fenix.
The rrp on these watches is ridiculous and certainly not worth the price.
The three that I had considered was the 235, 245 music or fenix 5 plus.
I bought a used 235 on ebay cheap and it does the job.

I just got the FR245M this week, I previously owned both the 235 and 225, like you guys I was really struggling to find a reason to upgrade from the 235 as its a solid watch and still going strong after all these years, I looked at the Fenix 5 plus and 645 as I liked the sound of Garmin pay and a barometer (for running power), but the price was right for the 245 so decided to get it. Initially I was disappointed about the weight and size of it compared to the 235 (like @wadeywilson1) however after wearing for a couple of days I'm more than happy with it, the display is lovely and so are the smart features (notification animations and emojis ), I've yet to take it for a proper run (garmin coach scheduled tonight), but so far I've used it for weight training, swimming and a Zwift run and it tracked those ok despite being a little bit out but that was expected with these things, overall its seems like a decent watch with loadsa features and new metrics so I'm happy with it so far.
For another £40 I’d go for this I know some people don’t like cex but their returns policy is excellent in my experience and grade A usually seems to be new.
Personally I wouldn't bother with this watch in 2020. I have a 645 and it has functionality that the fenix 5 doesn't have like contactless payments.

Save a few quid and go for a newer lower spec model or pay a little more and get something newer IMO
If you have a bluelight card you get 15% off, think this only works in store as the terms say you can’t get the discount on already discounted prices but this seems to be overlooked in store. I ordered this watch in December when it was 299 and they gave me the 15% off, although I ended up taking it back and getting the 5 plus
I bought my Fenix 5 last year from John Lewis at £299. I wear it every day and love it. I don't listen to music when i run and if I need to pay for anything it's no big deal to put a debit card in my back pocket. I also have a Forerunner 235 which is now neglected and could well be going on eBay.
