Great watch. I've had mine two years now and apart from a few scratches on the screen and new strap it has been pivotal in helping me get my lazy ars* off the sofa.

The GPS/GLONASS is accurate and heart rate monitor is decent enough unless you're really serious about numbers. There are enough features to keep you informed and smart notification is a handy extra.

If you're bothered about looks it is plastic and lacks the premium feel of the fenix but at £172 this is a good price for a reliable watch.
Does anyone know what chest based HRM can pair with this? I do a lot of interval training and wrist based sensors don't seem to keep up with the quick changes in heart rate. I had a look at the manual but it just says that it can be paired with a "compatible chest based heart rate monitor".

You can pair a chest based HRM I have a garmin one from an older watch, it works well.
I've just tried to purchase this but it wants to add a £6 delivery charge on taking the total to £178. Any tips on how to avoid this? I am a prime member on amazon.co.uk but don't think this makes any difference
Not voting either way, but no music on a running watch? Also the one person I know who had one, theres failed just out of warranty ( Garmin gave him a refurb ). There seems to be a large market in Garmin refurbs which would worry me about durability. ( they come up quiet often on Sports Pursuit)

You can use any ANT+ heart rate strap. So any Garmin chest strap. Or there's a few other brands that transmit ANT+, eg Wahoo, or Decathlon.
I've had one for over a year now and it's good. Don't rely 100 % on the HR watch monitor, use an external one if you want better accuracy. Battery life is good, great watch faces and apps. I used a skiing app that measures altitude, distance etc.
Excellent watches but the Wrist based HR wasn't consistently good enough so I ended up using it with a cheat based HRM on the occasions when I need to rely on it.

Thanks
Its a great bit of kit - but wow is it plastic fantastic, quite a shock when I got my hands on it - my old Forerunner felt better quality. However that said I like it and it works well and the battery life is cracking. Did a 8 hour run/walk at the weekend and it happily did that. Also if £170 is too much - have a look at cex they get loads of these in. You'll save £30/40 on an A grade
Have the 230. Great watch. Reliable running stats and just enough "smart" features for me. Fairly regular updates from Garmin.
