Was £170 originally in blacks and millets
Decent watch and price, but worth noting that it's not great for triathletes, as it doesn't have multi sport mode, or record swimming.
Does this have full gps or connected gps and needs a phone?

Doesn't have to be paired with a phone. Has GPS built-in.

Im currently looking to upgrade my very old Forerunner 305. Thinking the 235 may be the best option for me at around £60 more than this one.

As has been mentioned this isn't the best for triathletes. The 735XT is better for that but nearer the £500 mark
Only in pastel blue?
Apologies if its stupid question as i have never owned one of these but will it do any more than my phone + endomondo?

Thanks i’m just a casual runner. Just the thought of a triathlon gives me shivers
Great deal. Just wish Garmin would up the display a bit. They all look so pixelated. Be nice to see a Garmin that has a good resolution so the text edges look nice an smooth like you see on most smart watches.

Forerunner 35 can record your heart rate.
Big advantage is you don't need to use a phone. Carrying a phone while running can be rather annoying. Also it's on your wrist, so easy to read the screen.
And it's waterproof, no need to worry about a bit of rain. And probably better battery life than your phone.

Screen on the 235 and some of the other more expensive models look pretty good, albeit I have only seen videos/pictures and not one in the flesh.

This one has all you need if you just want a basic running tracker.

Me too! Part of me really wants to do one and another part of me thinks training for running is hard enough without adding 2 extra sports

What annoys me is that on the publicity photos they use they have smoothed the edges of the screen content. If you look at the photos on review sites or videos it looks terrible IMO. The display quality is what it is, they've all got fantastic functionality to make up for it, there's no need to misrepresent what it looks like.

Bottom line... fix the display or change the pictures. :-)
Glad I got mine for £105 cyber Monday

Same here and I sold me forerunner 235 as well because this is a good watch. I find the display on this better than the 235 as well

The 735XT can be had for a lot less than that. £298 at Blacks, for example. If you are prepared to take a punt on a "Like New" from Amazon \warehouse, you can get it for about £270.

Yes you are correct. I have only started looking into my options in the last couple of days and theres so many different models it gets very confusing! I really want the Fenix 5 now, but £449 is the cheapest I can see in Millets, and that's a lot of money!

Running is the main purpose I need it for, but counting reps in the gym would be a big plus too aswell as golf, which you get with fenix 5. Plus the fenix 5 looks like a watch you can wear all day.

I've got a Vivoactive 3, and I@m happy with the display. It's still not as high PPI as my old Android Wear watch, but I'd take this hit for the longer battery life any day of the week.

My sister has the FR35, and you're right the screen isn't great. But as it doesn't have as much functionality as a fully blown smart watch, it's not as important to her, as she's not looking at it as often.
One thing worth noting for anyone purchasing a garmin watch at the moment is CES 2018 next week. Garmin always announce new products at the show including apparently a successor to the 235, and also the 645 Music, which will include built in music storage and player. That may cause prices to come down with retailers wanting to get rid of older products, but I guess that will depend on launch dates of the new products.

Just be careful with Garmin if you have a Huawei/Honor phone as many of there devices refuse to pair with them. This has been an issue for months and Garmin don't seem to know how to solve it.
