I have been keeping an eye out for a price drop on this heart rate monitor for quite a while and it finally happened.
Haven't seen it so cheap for more than half a year.

Lots of comments in the Amazon review comments from buyers complaining about the strap malfunctioning after a month or so.
One user using washing up liquid and hot water on a cloth to bring it back to life.
Also seems you need to warm up for 10 mins according to Garmins advice as otherwise the HRM underrecords early data.

wow I remember picking up my HRM strap with speed and cadence sensors for 39.99 or so :/
Just had a quick look and look and nowehere to be found at these prices now

Mustve had mine about 4years or so and its never skipped a beat, I always ensure to wet the sensors on the strat#p with warm water before putting it on

"warm up for 10 minutes" - or just wet electrodes with water or other liquid.
I'm looking for a Heart Rate Monitor for my Vivoactive 3 but it seems that this one isn't fully compatible (HR works but nothing else).

Anybody have any experience with alternatives? Wahoo maybe?
Decent price - but be aware they don't seem to last ages. The sweat erodes the contacts so it's best to wash with warm soapy water after every use. The latest which I got from Garmin under warranty has been faultless for the past 18 months or so.
wash every 7 uses as per Garmin instructions, I have had the premium version now for over 5 years and throw it in the washing machine with the rest of my gear. NOTE: this strap listed is hand wash only, you can see the instructions here:

I have the HRM Tri version which is getting quite battered now after over 3 years of use. Always use it vs optical HRM for cycling and gym sessions as it's way more accurate. Both versions have running dynamics too if you like that level of data.

This wont have Garmin running dynamics though. OK if you don't want or need.

Agreed. Much better than a standard hr monitor. Cadence, right left balance etc. Great extra info

I use the above Garmin HRM, but it only has Ant+ connectivity.
The Wahoo models also have Bluetooth. The more expensive model can also record and store data for uploading the data when you don't have a phone with you, for example.
My guess is they're as good as each other for accuracy. But the price and Bluetooth might be a factor in deciding which to get.
I have this strap and I was using it till the day it died. I get sweat a lot and this product lasted less than a year. I don’t recommend this product since the sensor is attached to the strap , this is a no-go situation. I strongly suggest the 2 straps from polar (H10 , OH1). Both can be paired via Bluetooth with any Garmin watch , sensor is removable and their firmware can be updated using phone app or PC/notebook.

Last but not least , the successor of this modem is just around the corner which means even worse support.
