No, that isn't the solar version.

Great watch, I love the long battery life and simple screen. However, don't expect it to recharge via solar in the UK. Solar charging worked great in Spain (not needing charging for months), but never here.

Great feedback. Will bear in mind I live in the North

I really like the Instinct range but always felt they are £100 overpriced for what is just a basic (but great) screen and plastic body.

I tend to agree. I have the first Instinct Solar and I absolutely love it. In fact, it's one of my favourite tech purchases over the past few years, but they aren't cheap. You pay a premium (I suspect) for the fact Garmin don't charge a subscription for the Strava-like data that you have access to via Garmin Connect.

I love the Instinct because I really don't want to have to charge my watch regularly. I am waiting to update to the Instinct 2 though. Price needs to drop a little lower yet.

Tempting, but does it do anything more that my Instinct Solar does? Can't envisage the support for IQ apps being that good given the basic display. Might hold out for the FR255 coming down in price, or even the Venu2 plus perhaps.
