Garmin Oregon 600 with GB OS maps 1:50K, not sure on how it compares, just bought it for a relative with 10% discount.

I tried to price beat it at Go Outdoors, they just matched the same price, so also available at Go-Outdoors for the same price.

I have owned one of these for over 12 months and used it extensively. I have owned several handheld GPS's over the years and found the user interface a bit of a steep learning curve. Having said that I like the unit and it does what you want it to do. A big advantage is being able to load your own custom maps which with a bit of work can be done for free. I also have a Satmap which in all honesty I prefer in many ways but neither unit has everything. The Satmap has a larger screen but cannot cope with custom maps but the Garmin can. The Garmin has off course and waypoint audible warnings which can be heard wheras the Satmap's sound output is feeble in comparison. If I had to choose one over the other I would go for the Garmin.
