This usually retails over £40 so looks like a good deal. It will measure various run statistics, like power, ground contact time and vertical oscillation. Note, it won't measures distance or pace like a foot pod will.

Worth pointing out that the HRM-Tri and HRM-Run heart rate belts also offer these running dynamics and can be had for not much more than this sometimes.

Personally I don't think these are actually useful metrics, about the only really useful metric that you can action and improve on is cadence and you can get that from the watch without a pod.

I personally wouldn't use a footpod unless it would give accurate instant pace, probably the main reason for a footpod. I don't think this is worth buying personally.

I agree on the instant pace point. I'm using a Zwift RunPod for instant pace and it seems pretty accurate once you calibrate it properly, although can struggle with variable speed runs. It's still more accurate than GPS though.

I'd really like to buy a Stryd for instant pace which apparently is so accurate it doesn't need calibration but it's about 200 quid.

The instant pace on my Fenix 5 is absolutely hopeless, it's so bad I use average pace now instead which smooths its out. I'd ruled out the Garmin pod for reasons above, and had considered the Zwift (used to the Milestone) pod as a better alternative.

I'm in exactly the same position. Running with a Fenix 6 and instant pace is a joke (will show 11 min/mile when I'm doing 6:50 ish). The Zwift RunPod might be worth a shot. It's £37 on Amazon (here) and does an admirable job of both pace and distance. It's BLE rather than ANT+ but I think the Fenix 5 is compatible. I too would like a Stryd but can't justify the price (yet).
My 645 shows a pretty accurate average pace, but as GPS data contains inaccuracies surely at least some smoothing is essential?

Loads of Stryd appearing on eBay for about £100 at the moment as people upgrade to the wind version. These will work great for instant pace and also give you running power!
