I've read reviews that touchscreen watches aren't so good for runners. …I've read reviews that touchscreen watches aren't so good for runners. Especially in the rain. I'm waiting for a reasonable deal on a forerunner.. Not far off the same watch but with button control

Got one for Christmas and ran with it Tuesday night in the storm; did notice that the rain interacted with the screen if you like, much as you would with a finger. It was excessively hard rain and the you can just manually lock the screen so it can't react. All being told, if you're a serious runner who is going to do long runs in the rain and likes to flick between various screen whilst running, yes it could be a problem; for me as the average runner who tends to avoid rain, it's fine.

If you want a watch for working our or running, this is the one you are looking for
I'm considering buying this....

Does it have a heat map on the app so I can track my route, for those who have used it??
What an absolute steal and includes two straps!

Cheapest ever deal?

I dont think it does on the app (not iOS anyway). On the website it’s under training/popularity heatmap. I’m not sure by the second part of your sentence where you can say does it have heatmap so you can track your route? Heatmap doesn’t let you track route it allows you to see other peoples routes so you would add it as a course to your watch. I imagine your asking if you can add someone else’s route to your device using just the app and I’m pretty sure the answer is no as the only options on the app are to create your own or use one you found on the connect website.

Cracking price! Bought it at £150 before Christmas and thought that was a good deal!

Thanks, was literally planning on buying today from Argos store at £175.

Worth noting Garmin give 2 year warranty anyway.

Just ordered, ideal replacement for my nearly four year old Garmin watch
How does this compare to the forerunner 45?

Agreed. I occasionally have rain problems but think the advantages of touch screen outweigh the disadvantages. Also this watch is a much newer model than the 45 and has music.
Does it work eith strava? Thanks.

Experienced this. Solution: pull a sleeve over it. No biggie, just a minor annoyance.
How do people feel about this Vs the Galaxy Watch Active (1st version)? Got that one free with my S10 but I'm not too into smart watches, especially with a measly 2 day battery life!
I need a smart watch for the pool, anyone tried this and how was it??
My screen cracked after 6 months. Not sure how ad i dont recall banging it anything. Garmin were pretty unhelpful other than suggesting i pay them 110 for a refurbed version. Be warned, i think the screen on these is weak (maybe because of the curved edge). Their support was terrible. Made me posit it an at my cost and then told me it wasnt covered by warranty (i had explained clearly that the screen was cracked so why waste my time and money posting it if it wasn't covered? Decent watch with features but lacks quality

Terrible in a pool unless you lock off the touchscreen.
Also, the watch strap broke after 8 months. So confirms my initial concern about quality. I paid £200 for it. This is good price for the watch (so have voted hot for the price) but perhaps not good value if its not well made and CS is not great of you have an issue.
The Garmin app can be linked to Strava

Sorry not a swimmer really , just a runner/cyclist which this watch is great for. But Garmin make swimmer watches -

I use mine in the pool.

The only issue I have had is when the screen is wet after my swim I can't seem to end my activity due to the touchscreen not recognising what I'm pressing.

I still think it's really good as i press the button on the side and then select pool swim, set the pool length then press go and I have Mine set to auto lock the screen during activity.

It accurately counts each length, I assume by the fact that I've stopped or by stroke count and then when I get out I wipe the face then press the Crown button on the side then end the exercise.

The stats it gives are pretty cool not just the distance & time and it can then send to stravia then from there to Google fit if you like.

I also use mine on my bike rides, walks, elliptical trainer and stationery bike in the gym. I have also tried it for strength training but found i had to manually edit the reps after each set and really more trouble to me than it was worth as too much fiddling not enough training.

Overall, brilliant but of kit. Mine is the non music Version and I'm tempted to upgrade using this deal as its just that good.

Hth
Yes, it plays lovely with Strava, you can lock the screen, it's also handy to lock the screen if you are a wearing a jacket (sometimes) (or when swimming). I've got the standard model Vivoactive 3 (no music), had no problems with it regarding build quality or screen quality. I've had very very occasional glitches with it, usually a power cycle of the watch fixes it, or an update comes out that fixes it (I think once it kept telling me to drink? weird bug I guess).

This is a steal at £125, tempted to update just to get the added music features.

The other great thing about this watch is it's not big and chunky like a lot of sports watches. It looks and acts like a normal watch for day to day wear, before I owned this, I thought I'd never need to wear a watch again. Now I'm rarely without it on my wrist.
